halloween is jungwon's favorite holiday. there's just something about scary movies, dressing up, free candy, and the start of a new season that makes his bones tingle. in a good way of course.

but the thing about halloween of 2021, is that it's on a sunday, which is a school day for jungwon.

call him an overachiever and what not but he likes to sleep in on the nights where he has school the next day. he also likes to finish whatever homework or preparations for school he has before it's due so that he can lighten up the burden of balancing school work, student council, and taekwando.

he originally planned on just staying in on halloween to pass out candy for trick or treaters and watch movies with his family. however, his plan is currently being ruined by his friend.

even though the brunette considered himself a bookworm, he hung out with popular people who were also big partiers. jay, who was sadly his best friend, was going to throw "the most epic party on the block" as he has been chanting the whole week prior to halloween.

they've been friends since elementary school, where jay had saved jungwon from 3 bullies picking on him, so the younger would always stick by him. eventually they had become inseparable even though they were polar opposites. but at times like this, jungwon wishes they weren't best friends. only then would he be able to reject jay's plead.

"wonie please, you know how much it means to me that you're there with me. you'll be the only sophomore there too, that's like insane." jay tried to create the most exaggerated reasons as to why jungwon should come. instead of agreement, he was met with contemplation and eventually a sigh.

"that sigh isn't a 'i'm not going to go, stop asking me" sigh, is it?"

"first of all, being a sophomore with a bunch of upperclassmen is not a flex for me, hyung. second of all, it's a 'i'm sadly considering it' type of sigh." the younger rolled his eyes. he was too nice to his friends but maybe this could be fun for him. a chance to let loose for a couple of hours.

and before jay and the rest of their friend group could cheer, jungwon mentioned his compromise. "i'm only staying for 4 hours max."

"jungwonie come on." a certain fox-eyed boy pouted. although he was a year older than jungwon, he always found him adorable. "the party starts at midnight even though it says 8. you can't leave when it starts." he added, batting his pretty eyes.

"absolutely not, sunoo hyung. i already know that i'll have to watch everyone if you guys drink, which you really shouldn't do because we're underage, but that's beside the point. plus it's a school night and i have homework."

"just come at 8 and you'll have 4 hours before the party actually starts. barely anybody is going to be there so early." jay tried one last time to get jungwon to stay longer for the party. it seemed to have worked as jungwon nodded before leaving to get to class.

jungwon was really wise for his young age. he had good grades, knew a lot of information he didn't really need to know, and was put together well.  he also didn't make that many mistakes.

going to the party at 8 to get ahead of homework wasn't the wisest decision, instead, it was one of his worst mistakes.

he could hear the party from 2 blocks away. as soon as he heard jay's familiar playlist all the way down the street, he asked jake to drive him back home. sadly, jungwon sat throughout the drive there with regret as his dear angel friend was a devil for halloween.

'barely anybody is going to be here this early my ass.' jungwon thought as he walked up to jay's house. students' cars were piled up all the way down the street and even on the lawn. and the house wasn't even better as people were everywhere from outside to the living room to the kitchen.
