So after years of living on my own , I decided to give the world of matrimonial sites a try. Registering on to it was surprisingly easy, couple of pictures and a very personal questionnaire later I was ready to go! Hundreds of options(sorry , men) started popping on my screen almost immediately. It almost felt like a dating app with numerous options and swipe right option. Some profiles were too good to be true and almost made me wonder what was wrong with these beautiful people. Why were they looking for love online? Why weren't they able to find someone that they could connect with in real life. Was finding love online just a fairytale or was there any truth in it?
'PING!' went the phone and the rodeo began. Couple of hrs later I decided to call in help.
' Always do background check, check his profile on linkedin', Nana adviced.
' Try and observe the values of the guy' , came the sage advise from Mummy.
'Do not look for everything in one guy, compromise is the key', said Nani.
'Do what you want to do, live your life, you worked hard for it' said Bhai.
Armed with the experiences and advice from my friends and family, I made couple of rules - no one who started off with where do I live , always check their professional profile, no excessive ex-cribbers , no abusers or people who lose patience easily on chat. After a couple of misses , I had my technique down pat.
However the search for a man was not as easy as I thought it would be. This book is a journal of all the different kinds that I came across. I write this in the hope that someone like me someday would read it and be able to learn from my experiences and my mistakes 🙂
