3rd POV
Rudy is furious when he finds out his baby is gone, and no one noticed! He was sure his security was better than this!
"I'm not forgiving anyone who wasn't on their guard at the time this happened! I'm increasing security measures after we get back MY baby boy, you hear?! Move your asses, we have to act fast. I don't know how far he has gotten but I doubt it was pretty far," Rudy says. Everyone scrambles to the job they're assigned to do.
Both Salter and Colven feel pretty guilty because instead of watching out for this failure, they were preoccupied with each other...
Rudy comes over to them, putting his hand on their shoulders. "Don't sulk, boys. I am mad but I know what you guys were doing and you weren't on duty at the door and cameras this time. You were in fact on break, so don't feel guilty. But right now you have a job to do, so get to it, okay?" "Yes boss," they both say, feeling relieved, and walk away to their tasks.
Rudy's POV
I keep my composer strong on the outside but inside I'm more of a mess. Where did my baby go?! How far did he go?! Is he in danger?! We literally ran out from our raid a couple of days ago with him, it's not safe out there!
I walk outside after making sure everyone is doing what they're supposed to. If I were someone like him, trying to escape, where would he go? He was able to get outside but, where did he go from there?
I get down on my knee and look around for any clues, footprints, baby scent, dropped items, anything!
...
I really can't find anything. My baby is stealthy it seems or my guys are that stupid. To be fair, it's not like we usually kidnap others or anything, so we never have to be that on guard, so I won't be too harsh with them, I'm just worried about my baby!
I fear if we can't find him anywhere around here, or even at that store again, we'll just have to let him go... No, I'm not giving up, but sometimes playing the waiting game is how they show up once again...
3rd POV
After several hours of searching around the whole place, inside and out, everyone comes up empty. Rudy had already figured that Craton would run as far away as possible the second he got outside, so he kind of knew searching around the place was useless but he was hopeful nonetheless. They will just have to go and make a small trip back to that store again and wait it out until their next encounter. If he cared about his job as much as he seemed like he did, and if he didn't get fired, he should be sure to show up there again. Although he has a feeling Craton might try to avoid being there at all times because he knows they will be watching the store, or maybe he isn't that smart...
Nah, his baby is definitely smart!
"Hey boss, we're really sorry about this happening. I know how excited you were to have him. We already messed up on the first day..." He turns around to see Salter and Colven. He shakes his head at them, "It's okay. This is a new experience for everyone and we don't usually take in others like this, it was bound to happen if we had someone as smart as him to slip by us. We don't usually stay that on guard around our own quarters anyway," he reassures them. They nod but still look guilty.
"He might have outsmarted us, or we're idiots, but he isn't untraceable either. He forgot his clothes, that we took, which included his wallet and identity. We can use it to find his location," Buzz brings up, showing the wallet in his hands.
Rudy raises an eyebrow. Perhaps that could do it... Should they use his personal information to find him or would that just make things way more strained once they find him...
"Oh, I know! We can use this as an excuse to bring it 'back" to him! If the boss doesn't want to intrude on him like a creep, we can just use this as an opportunity to look good in his eyes with the innocent intent to give his wallet and clothes back," Salter says, having read Rudy's expression which is conflicted. Rudy lets out a sigh. "I do want him back, but at the end of the day, we did kinda take him by force even if we were in a panic. I'm not a criminal criminal," he says, unsure of what to do in this situation. Colven steps up, "In that case, maybe starting over would be better? We just give him back his things and then we'll leave. If he wants to make the first move, we'll reciprocate. How about that?" "And if he doesn't?" "Well..." "Being the good guys is boring," Buzz says, interrupting. All three look at him. He shrugs. "Just do what you want." That doesn't seem to help in the least.
Rudy takes the wallet and looks at the ID. He reads his name, age, date of birth, eye color, hair color, social number, weight, height, sex, and location. "With whatever we do, it is better to give this to him either way," he says to the others. They all nod in agreement.
"Then we heading out?" Buzz asks in excitement. He loves adventures. "No, not yet. If he has just escaped, he needs time to find his way home. We do not want to get to his place first, he would have an opportunity to run once he sees us at his door. And I have no idea if we would have any bushes to hide behind," Rudy states, thinking deeply about what to do. "Then behind his place--" "I don't want to be behind it, it might be creepy and dirty!" Salter interjects. "Don't be prissy now," Colven says in amusement. Salter blushes and hits his arm. "Shut up!" Rudy looks at the two. "Actually, maybe you guys can be useful for this. You two look like a normal couple, I mean friends, just going about the neighborhood. I don't think he even saw you two here yet. You guys could go up to his place, be friendly, and when the opportunity strikes, show him his ID. Of course, he will figure it out and freak out but reassure him that you two have no intentions of anything and just decided it would be better if he had it. You can even mention that I had no involvement, that you two were the ones taking sympathy for him from this situation and wanted to be nice. He may not trust you but it's better than trying to force anything," he says.
Salter and Colven look at each other and nod. "Sure thing, boss. We'll be the friendliest of friendly!" Colven exclaims. "We'll just be normal," Salter interjects. Rudy nods at them. "I trust you two the most--" "Hey!" Buzz says, looking offended. No one replies to him. He looks butthurt.
They all decide to do this a day or two after, to have things settle down. Rudy isn't sure what he will do if nothing happens after Salter and Colven do their attempt. Will he just let him go and they go about their lives separately like before? Or will he try to visit him at the store and try to become his friend? With their first meeting, he doesn't think that will quite pan out well... It is all in Craton's ball court now after all...
...
Craton's POV
I'M FINALLY HOME AFTER SO LONG. I'M SURPRISED I EVEN REMEMBERED WHERE IT IS.
It took me soooooo long to get back on the path that was familiar to me. Those guys really live far away from where I do, geez. I never want to do that AGAIN! You know what happened?!
After I got outside, and escaped anyone lurking about, I ran for it. Once I was out of reach far enough, I chilled out. That's when I realized, I didn't even know where I was! It was an unfamiliar road. I never go anywhere outside of my place and work, so where the heck was that?! They live out in the country or something, I have no idea! And me looking like some homeless person didn't help! I did find someone after walking down the road far enough. They looked at me like I was HOMELESS! Luckily for me, they helped give me directions back to where I needed to go and they knew their way around. Thank god, I would have been lost forever if not for them!
"Finally, back to...this run-down place. Better than staying with those goons!" I say once I open the door to my place. Dusts rolls by my feet as I look at it... Well... It's better than... Man, why do they have such luxury for being some goons?! This is so unfair. The good people have it worse than the bad people here! This is so unfair! Waaaah!
I go to my "bed" which is just a pillow on the floor and lay down on it. "Ah, the good times!"
