Thunder clapped against the sky. The girl shuddered. She knew something was out there in the night. Something that shouldn't be. She should have listened, she shouldn't have been so ignorant and closed-minded. It was to late now. She backed into the corner of the wall and slowly slid down hugging her knees close to her chest.
Her heart thudded against her chest and her veins pulsed with adrenalin as an idea slipped its way into her frenzied mind. She wondered briefly if it would work but she knew that it was the only way but she then realized that she had missed her window of opportunity and now she was desperate.
Sweat beaded around her forehead so she brought her hand up to wipe it off. She closed her eyes for a brief second but that's all it took, that's all it to for it to be there, here, in front of her.
Her breath caught in her throat as she took in the ghastly sight. The smell radiating off of it was horrid and burned her nostrils with each she breath she took. Its eyes held her captive as if she was in some sort of trance that could only be broken by the holder of the spell. She could tell that her breaths were numbered and she could do nothing about it, she knew it and so did it.
Lightning flashed across the sky again and following right after was the clap of the thunder. She then realized that she's never going to see the end of this storm, she's never going to see the beautiful colors of spring or feel the heat of the rays on her skin. She realized that this was the end. This was the end and there's nothing that's going to stop it.
She silently prayed for a miracle as the beast sunk its crooked teeth into her shoulder, she realized that there were no such things as miracles. There was no such thing as saviors, fairy tales or happily ever after's. This was reality and there was no one to become her hero and take her away to safety.
She cried out and her vision blurred with tears as pain spread down her arm. Tears leaked down her cheeks and she wiped them away with her other hand. She turned her head and saw blood gushing out from her shoulder. Her head began swarming with nausea. Her stomach felt as if it was filed with water.
Vomit flooded out of her mouth and covered her clothes. The stench of the beast and the stench from her vomit were too much to handle. Her brain started shutting down on her. She could longer hear or feel. She looked at the far wall as lighting flashed across the room again and saw her shadow. She watched as the beast lowered its head to take another bite from its prey, from her. She looked down and as her eyes started shutting close, she saw it open it's mouth to take a bite from her midsection.
