A/N: Hey guys! Just to let you know, there will be two uploads this week! One today, obviously, and another on Saturday! Both of these chapters are in Killian's POV. We'll be switching back to Emma soon enough, but, for right now, we'll be focusing on my personal that I don't own or have anything to do with Once Upon A Time. The closest I am to being affiliated fo the show is the costume designer Eduardo Castro following me on Instagram. Now, without further ado...
====================================
The jungles of Neverland could be terrifying when they want to be. They pick on people's greatest fears and multiply them ten times over. It makes sense, though, that an island run on pure imagination and childhood fantasy should be able to function how it wants. It can create brand new entities, reshape itself, and uncover or hide whatever it wants whenever it wants.
Which is why, as hard as he looked, Killian couldn't find a trace of Emma's whereabouts. In fact, he couldn't find a trace that Emma had been on the island at all, other than the memories in his head.
Those which he had of her were bittersweet. Emma helping him out of the pile of bodies back in the Enchanted Forest where they first met. Her tying him to a tree because she didn't trust him, the first time anyone had bested him in almost a century. Emma arguing with her mother, Aurora, and Mulan over who should be the one to climb the beanstalk with him to retrieve the compass. The two of them climbing the beanstalk, where she lied to him and he saw right through it. Him fixing her cut hand with a scarf. Her abandoning him in the giant's castle, screaming her name after her quickly retreating form. Standing on the other side of the Dark One's cell, shriveled giant's bean around his neck taunting her as green orbs pleaded with ice cold blue. The fight at the remains of Lake Nostos. Cora trying to rip Emma's heart out and being unable to do so, and the relief he felt for an unknown reason because they are on opposite teams and he shouldn't be relieved, but frustrated. Her leaving him to go home to her son, silky blond hair flying around in the air as she jumped through the portal. The first time he spotted her in Storybrooke, at Granny's Diner, her son tucked under her arm, bright smile on her face, as he gazed on through his spyglass. When he pushed the crocodile's love Belle over the town line via gun, and Emma found him, looking down on his face as if she was an angel. Her coming to question him in his hospital room while he was handcuffed to the bed. When she locked him up in Neal's apartment building. Her speech about being a part of something that he brushed off heartlessly, before realizing she spoke the truth and turning around. Her smile when he came back with the bean that shone brighter than a hundred sunsets. The storm where she so stupidly threw herself off of the Jolly Roger, almost drowning in the process, that single moment making his heart slam to a halt inside his chest. That earth shattering kiss that completely floored him, where he realized he loved her, loved someone so deeply for the first time since Milah. His confession in the Echo Cave, where he admitted about half of his true feelings to not only her, but her parents as well.
Their story thus far was complicated, but to Killian, it was worth it. She was worth it.
Killian glanced to his left. Mary Margaret and David were holding hands, searching everywhere in despair for their lost daughter, her disappearance finally stopping their petty feud. He turned to his right, Baelfi- Neal at his heels. The man was muttering to himself, over the humidity level of all things, as if he expected an island to not be humid.
In front of him, a branch snapped. Killian's head shot up, hand reaching towards his sword and hook prepared to go for the face. From around a bend behind the bushes, feet could be seen approaching. All of a sudden they disappeared.
"Hello everyone!"
The voice behind them startled Mary Margaret, and Killian could see her jump slightly in his peripheral vision. The prince gripped his wife's hand just that much tighter. Neal glared at the figure, as if willing it to move. Killian took on a defensive stance, sneer crossing his face. He was - well - he didn't know what he was, but he was just so, just so... Livid, he decided. He was livid.
