Just the Beginning

"I wish there was another way..." Taylor Jones yelled, beginning to relinquish her grasp on her teammate, Allison Bennet's arm.

"No! Please, don't let go!" Allison screamed, holding back the tears in her eyes.

"I'll be back, I promise," Taylor replied to her woeful statements.

Taylor tapped Allison's hand slightly, indicating for Allison to let go of her.

Allison sighed with deep compassion and honest regret.

Then she slowly loosened her grasp and watched her best friend fall into the portal to Hell.

Allison's brother, Chris Bennet, Taylor's brother, Nate Jones, and their elder teammate and best friend, Nat Houston, were desperately trying to hold back the demons which were currently trying to kill them whilst these horrifying events took place. Nate was in the middle of growing back her arm, using her powers of regeneration, which had been torn off by a particularly nasty demon, while Allison just sat there, unable to comprehend the fact that she had just let one of her best friends and coworkers slip between her grasp.

"Come on! We have to go, Allison!" Chris yelled sadly over the wretched wails of the ghastly demons that swirled all around them. He didn't want to leave Taylor to fend for herself in Hell either, but he also didn't want to risk any more lives.

Allison had already considered what was at stake if she jumped in after Taylor and she certainly thought it was worth the risk. She looked up at Chris and offered a weak nod before straightening her back and falling backwards into the hellhole after Taylor. She saw the color drain from Chris's face as he realized what she was doing, but it was too late for him to stop her.

"Allison!" She heard him scream as he ran to the side of the portal to only see her body tumbling down.

Chris almost jumped in after his elder sister before he considered that they could need help on Earth, if they survived the fall.

They can't believe that all of this happened because of their stupid powers and their stupid mission.

"Nate, Nat, we need to leave this instant," Chris yelled to both of his remaining teammates, quick to get them both out of harm's way before any other casualties happened.

"The battle isn't over," Nate replied, wiping a thin film of sweat off of his forehead.

Nat had already retreated to the cover of Chris's Jeep, and he could see just the tip of her head in the car window.

Chris was swift to grab Nate's arm and pull him towards the car in haste. He opened the passenger's side door and shoved Nate inside, then sprinted to the other side of the car, opened the door, and jumped in himself.

"Damn it!" He grumbled when he realized the engine had been cut by one of the smarter demons.

"Nat, are you able to fix this?" Chris asked with hope in his voice, Nat was the best telekinetic on the team after Allison and Taylor.

"Absolutely," She mumbled quietly and used her telekinesis to hotwire the old Jeep.

"Thanks," Chris said gratefully as they heard the engine roar back to life.

Suddenly, a large mass of weight slammed on the hood of the car, denting it. It wasn't just anyone, it was James Smith, the governor's son. Here to save the day and all that jazz. Honestly, the only thing the kid did was get the team in trouble and have to be saved every five seconds.

"I'll handle him," Nate sighed.

Nate lifted the unconscious James with his air elemental powers and flung him through the open car window and into the back seat with Nat.
