Chapter 2: The Jet-Black Mystery Train

The Bell Tree Express. A special train which only runs once a year, famous for it's magnificent design, and mysterious deduction quiz. 

In the Kudou house, inside her room, Kudou Arina stood in front of her mirror, dressed in a long collared pink dress, and a white cardigan. Her long brown locks styled in a half-up flowed loose, and on top of her head was a boater hat with pink flowers. Putting on her large sunglasses and grabbing her purse, she was all set to ride the Mystery Train. She left her house, then headed to the Mouri Detective Agency to meet up with her friends Ran and Sonoko, for they had planned to head to Tokyo Station together. 

"I'm so excited! It's kind of like we're going to be riding the Orient Express, like in the Agatha Christie novel!" said Arina. 

Ran, Sonoko, and Arina were seated at the back row of a car belonging to the Suzuki family, which was on its way to Tokyo Station.

"Oh right, Rina-chan loves Christie novels!" said Ran. 

"I'm so glad you're back in Japan, Rina-chan! Finally the three of us can hang out again," Sonoko said with a smile.

"It's fun to be an actress and a model, but really, nothing beats hanging out with my best friends!" exclaimed Arina, as the trio giggled. 

"Ran you have onii-chan, and Sonoko you have Kyougoku-san, while I have no one!" Arina lamented. "Maybe, just maybe, I'll meet my soulmate on this train!"

"I see you're the same as ever, Rina-chan," Ran giggled. "Even if you're now a world-famous actress and model."

"Of course! Finding a boyfriend and getting married will always be my number one dream!" said Arina, determined.

"And I'm sure your siscon brother, Shinichi-kun will do everything to keep your dream from coming true," teased Sonoko. "Ran, it looks like you have to compete with Rina-chan for Shinichi-kun!"

"Sonoko!" Ran pouted. They all burst into laughter. 

"Well, he hasn't been around lately, so I'm going to do whatever I want!" proclaimed Arina, earning another laugh from her two friends. 

They arrived at Tokyo Station, then headed towards the platform in front of the Bell Tree Express. While waiting to board the train, they spotted the Detective Boys and Agasa-hakase.

"Hey, you kids! You better thank the owner of the Bell Tree Express, the Suzuki Conglomerate, alright?" said Sonoko from behind them. "I reserved special seats for you guys!"

"Yes ma'am!" said the children in unison.

"Of course, unlike yours, our seats are in a luxurious first class car," said Sonoko with a snicker.

"Ah, it's Arina-neechan who we met the last time we went camping!"exclaimed Ayumi at the sight of Arina.

"Shhh, shhh!" said Arina, holding her pointer finger to to her mouth, worried that someone might notice her. 

"Sorry," Ayumi said, guilty.

"Don't worry, it's alright!" said Arina, patting Ayumi on the head. 

"Oh yeah, speaking of camping, I hope we meet that lady who saved us from the burning cabin!" exclaimed Genta.

"Yeah, she was wearing a Mystery Train pass ring, so she's got to be here somewhere!" said Mitsuhiko.

"Oh yeah Sonoko, isn't our car the same first-class car that Kid announced he'd target next month?" said Ran who was standing next to Sonoko.

"Really?! One of the top things I want to do now that I'm back in Japan is to meet Kaito Kid!" said Arina beside them.

"It sure is! As a rule, this train only runs once a year, but after Jirokichi-ojisama announced that he was having it run next month to exhibit some jewels in the first class car, Kid-sama was surely going to ride it!" exclaimed Sonoko excitedly. "That's why I thought I'd be one step ahead of him and plant a love letter inside the car this time!"
