This was never supposed to happen , if it wasn't for his carelessness My life wouldn't be in ruins .
- Time skip : a few months before present time . ___________________________________________
I blinked twice , the bright light coming from my skylight illuminating my dark room . I slowly propped myself up on my elbows , I was never a morning person . I despise waking up , I just don't get the rush . Everything is so busy , stressful and noisy .
I brushed a strand of my hair out of my face and looked around my room , slowly taking in the details of the familliar chamber . I saw a skyblue sundress with star patterns sprinkled around it beautifully folded on my dresser , accompanied by a strawhat and high heeled boots .
" A strawhat ? What would I need that for ? " - I thought to myself . Then it hit me , it was the summer fruit harvest !
My parents , namely Duke and Duchess Brooklyn , were tasked with keeping everything in line during the harvest . Last year things got messy with the wolves near the orchards . There have been several accidents . Sense our parents got labeled as " busy " , me and my older brother Xavier were sent to keep a watchful eye .
I jumped out of bed , eagerly wiping the sleep from my eyes . I quickly slipped into the dress and the bots , I clicked my heels together in excitement .
" Now where is my .. " - I dug through my drawers untill I found it . A harness to hold a small steel dagger incase of emergency , and a matching belt for my sword to loop through .
I carefully strapped the harness onto my thigh , securing it to it's place . I also looped my belt around my waist assuring myself I'd be protected .
" There ! " I hummed in satisfaction .
Just then my lady in waiting , Lilly stormed into my room .
" Miss ! What did I say about getting ready yourself ?! I'm going to get fired ! You don't want me gone that much do you ? " She ranted , her facial features softening at the last sentence .
" Lilly , heavens no ! I just got really excited about the summer harvest .. " I rubbed my neck shyly .
Lilly sighed and ordered me to sit down , like a slave to her command I did as told . She held up my hair brush and carefully brushed through my tangled , short hair , fondly putting in a small braid with a blue ribbon to hold it in place .
" There , that should keep your hair in place while you work . " - She hummed .
I bowed my head in a ' thank you ' manner , giving her a shy smile before I put the strawhat in place .
