Walking After Midnight

Penny's P.O.V.
"Sheldon Leonard OPEN UP NOW."
I'll just bang louder
"I am serious you need to get the hell out of your freaking beds now!!!!"
"Penny what couldn't wait tomorrow."
I slapped him I slapped him really hard.
"What the hell Penny!?"
"Bring your keys and get Sheldon right now Amy got hit by a car I will tell you the rest when we are driving."
He was just staring out me tired out of his mind and must have been in shock. I slapped him lighter just to wake him up.
"Don't just stand there get Sheldon!!!!"
Leonard scurried off as I waited for them at the door.
"Just meet me in the Lobby."
Ohmigod Sheldon!What is he going to think when he finds out his girlfriend is in a hospital bed. Tears started to fill Penny's eyes.
No! I have to be strong.
For Amy.

Leonard's P.O.V.
I can't believe this happened. I know the girls weren't drunk when they left I said goodbye before they stepped out of the doors of our building. How am I going to tell Sheldon?
"Sheldon!"
I just said that in the firmest tone
"Yes Leonard?"
"We need to drive to the hospital Amy got hit by a car."
"What!?"
"Listen we need to go, Penny is at the lobby she is driving us so put on some shoes on and let's get downstairs !"
And just like that Sheldon rose up grabbed his emergency backpack and shoes and we rushed out, down the stairs in our pajamas. Penny already had the motor running.
"Crap!"
"What is it?" Sorta of afraid to know the answer.
"I need to fill up the tank. I don't have enough gas to get to the hospital. I have some in my trunk let me go get it."
"Are you ok Sheldon?" He hasn't said a word this entire time.
"What happens Leonard? What happens? If her line goes dead what happens then I am scared."
"Sheldon we are all scared but you can't think like that."
This guy needs a hug more than ever.
Then Penny quickly opens the door and closes it. She pushes the petal nearly going over the speed limit. I have never seen her drive this fast before. When there is a red light her car comes to a great halt. She is reaching over to Sheldon and she is now rubbing his knee slightly.
Nothing comes out of his mouth but a single tear streams down his cheek. I can't imagine what he is going through right know .
"It's a green light go."
Then she just pedals to the medal.
We are here now and as Penny goes to the woman at the front desk asking any information about Amy when I spot Howard and Bernadette hugging a very fragile woman holding a tissue in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other.
This person look familiar. I realize that must be Amy's mother.
"We got here as soon as Penny called me."
"Do you know what happened to my baby."
She said this to Sheldon in a very frightened voice. I watched Sheldon slowly shake his head. And Amy's mother just buried her face in her tissue spilling her coffee and didn't seem to give a damn. A nurse walks up to us and asks who she was.
" I'm her best friend."
Penny doesn't like to admit that Amy is her best friend often but today is different. Then she turns to Sheldon and asks the same thing.
"I am her boyfriend."
"We are only taking two at a time so you and you can go in now."
"Sheldon wait." Bernadette holds up a plush monkey.
"Give this to her we got it at the store downstairs."
Sheldon grabs it carefully. I need to get some coffee I remember so I just walk over to the small pot that is next to some paper cups. I pour myself a cup and sit down in one of the chairs feeling so lucky to be alive.

Sheldon's P.O.V.
I walk down the poorly fluorescent lit halls.It smelled like cherry cough syrup and vomit. I shuddered
"She will be okay Sheldon. I know it."
Penny reaches for my hand I grab onto it monkey in the other hand. We find her room 456. And Penny slowly opens the door and we see Amy looking very peaceful. I place the monkey on the table next to her bed.
"Amy I know you can't hear me right now but you are my best friend even if I don't like to admit. Amy you are a great friend and I wish I appreciate you more." Then waterfalls come out of Penny's eyes and she lets go of my hand and runs off.
"Amy I just want to tell you how much I love you. There are not many people who understand me and you are one of the few people that do. I am sorry if I'm not a good boyfriend."
I kneel in and kiss her on the forehead. I let her sit there and rest. I don't care what it takes she will get through this. The pushes open and it's Leonard.
"Sheldon if you want to stay the night I am okay wi...."
I hug him and just sob.
"Sheldon it's okay. Really she will be out of this hospital in no time."
"You promise." I said with a sniffle
"Yes."
We walk out and Raji was here and he had a very tired look on his face. This is all my fault I should've been with her. I want to run. I don't know where and I don't care.
"Sheldon where are you going."
I run straight to the front door not looking back.
