Endangered Species

Chapter 5

We were headed to Krogan Lane when i felt like I was being stalked again. I kept it to myself because i didn't want Ryder checking behind us. We headed into Krogan Lane and i felt like everyone was staring at us, everyone actually was. We walked around and scoped people out, we even asked where we could find Drack. The directions we got had us in a secluded area, sadly Jaal didn't have the authority to see the security feed in Krogan Lane. We kept walking, hoping that there was light at the end of this dark tunnel. We heard footsteps coming from everywhere. We stood back to back just in case we were ambushed...and we were. Everything went black.

Alejandro's POV

I read my book as I sat on the couch peacefully. I was reading about Galras. I was so fascinated by how they worked and functioned. Why is their fur and skin purple, how come there bone structure was thicker, or how come male omegas can get pregnant? I've been reading about Galras ever since i met the Galra King and Queen. I was a young Altean when I saw them, they were elegant, beautiful. I put my bookmark in my book and closed it. I looked at the clock that was hanging over the giant window that viewed Earth. They've been gone for hours now, I wonder what's taking so long? I got up and went to my room. I checked my email and saw a couple emails, some from the United Check.

I scanned through the email they sent me and i was being informed that Ryder was injured in Krogan Lane and Ryder called for me once he was conscious. I put my hair up and in a loose ponytail and headed to my cruiser and to United Check. I hurried to the Medic floor to be met by the Altean Commander. "Hello Commander Jaal." He turned around and looked at me, "They were ambushed in Krogan Lane, my men weren't fast enough to get to them before everything happened. My men are out now heading to Tuchanka." Before I could say anything about why they were headed there, Ryder had jumped up screaming, "Parker!" Jaal and i looked at him, I was confused the most until it hit me that Parker was nowhere near.

I looked around, but I was usually able to sense him by now if he was near. He was in his heat cycle, but he didn't even know it. "Where's Parker?" I asked, needing to know. I looked at the sad Altean Commander, "That's why my men are heading to Tuchanka...they took Parker." I lost all ways of reasoning and headed straight out of the Medic floor and flew all the way back to the Space Cadet Living Station. I hit the emergency evacuate button so everyone knew that there was an important mission at hand. Everyone got their in a couple seconds with their armor on and their guns ready.

"What's happening?" Dale yelled over the alarm.

"Parker and Ryder were injured by the Krogan while going through Krogan Lane on United Check. Ryder is in the infirmary while Parker was kidnapped and on Tuchanka. It's our mission to go there and get him back." I said in my toughest voice with my chest puffed out to show somewhat dominance.

"That's too dangerous, the Krogan could kill us all." Nick said, looking at me like i'm crazy. I put my head down and rolled my eyes. I looked back up at the four colleagues I somewhat call friends, "If it was any one of you, then we would do the same thing. You came to this branch to save people and protect. You should have known that coming into this branch, that you would be sacrificing your life for others, even if they aren't humans. So are you with me, or not?" I waited for someone to agree with me or say no. If no one would go then I would go by myself and meet up with the Alteans men. If they come with me, then there would be a high chance of success. I saw Dale shake his head, "You're lucky you're my best friend Alejandro," He moved up to me and put his fist out, "I'm in." One by one everyone came in and put their fist in.

"Okay everyone, let's head out!" We all got in our cruisers and headed to Tuchanka, more ready than ever. It didn't take long to get there, but finding a place to hide was hard. Krogan were highly skilled and could smell anything out of place. We heard shooting ahead of us, i could sense it was the Altean men by the sounds of their guns. We ran over to them and saw horrifying sights, bodies everywhere, blood splattered all over the ground, bullets firing, and...Parker hanging from his wrists with his head hung low and blood running down his body.

I didn't realize I changed into my Altean form until Dale had been staring at me for a couple minutes. I didn't care what he thought, I had to kill these bastards. I grabbed one of the Altean guns and sprayed bullets into the Krogan's heads. They died one by one until I got shot multiple times around my body. I can heal, just not very fast and if i get shot too many times then I'll eventually bleed out. I dunked under a block of debris and tried to heal faster. Almost everyone was down, but the Krogan were still standing.

I looked over the debris and saw that Parker was still hanging from his wrists. I sat back down and thought of a plan. I needed someone to shoot the rope and I'll run and catch him before he hits the ground. "He needs to pay for the Krogan lives the Galra have taken." I heard someone yell that. I looked over and traced where the words came from. It was a Krogan, he was wearing a yellow suit and the top looked like he was being eaten b something with large teeth. I set him as a killing point, he must have set all of this up.

I saw one of the Altean men hiding behind debris just like I was doing. I ran over to him and sat down beside him, "I need you to shoot the rope that is holding Parker. I'll run over and catch him." The Altean nodded and stood up to aim and shoot the rope. Once i heard the gun shoot, i jumped over the debris and ran over to the falling, almost lifeless body. I caught him and held him in my arms. I moved his face from my chest and I could tell he was alive since i could stills sense him. I looked at his face that was pale, "Parker, wake up! We need you!" Parker slightly opened his eyes and spoke quietly, "Ale..jandro..I knew you..would come for me." I felt like crying, but I needed to stay strong.

"I know...and I came for y-" i felt a gunshot go through my sides. I lost consciousness and blacked out with Parker in my arms.

Parker's POV

I saw the light him Alejandro's eyes darken as fell over on top of me. I moved him off of me and rolled him over onto his back. "Alejandro! No!" I looked over and saw the same guy that tortured me and hung me up staring at me with gun to my face. I was mad, no, I was furious.

It took only three seconds for me to fully change and start to charge at him. I jumped and landed on top of him. I clawed at his 'impenetrable' suit made of metal and bones. He died within seconds of my ripping out his insides. I started ripping apart Krogans one by one, they hurt my Alejandro, my Commander, my friends, and my allies.

Once they retreated and ran off, I ran back over to Alejandro and picked him up. I picked up all my other friends and headed to one of the Altean ships. I put them in the ship and started running back and forth from the battlefield to the ship so i could help all that were injured or alive. Some Altean men were scared of me, but they chose to come with me then to be stuck on Tuchanka. I gathered everyone and flew to United Check. I wasn't able to change back into a human, so I was stared at by everyone around me. The Altean Commander came to me and thanked me highly, if it wasn't for me and the crew then all of his men would be dead.

I thanked him back for him telling his men to come save me and for him watching over the Commander. The first person I went to see after i got cleaned up was Alejandro. He was awake and reading a book. His door was open so I knocked on the door frame. He looked up to me, put his bookmark in his book, and spoke, "Hey Parker, I like the new look." I smiled a bit and sat down in the seat beside his bed, "Thanks, it's Galra. I like yours too."

"Thanks, it's Altean." we looked into each other's eyes for a second before I decided to speak, "I need to tell you something, it's been important to be since the beginning."

"What is it Parker?" Alejandro kept his smirk on his face and looked at me deeply, waiting for me to say something. "I like you, no...I love you."

"I love you too." I didn't realize at first what he said, but then I looked at him wide eyed, "You do?"

"Yeah, have you not seen the books I've been reading?" He lifted up the book to show the title, All about the Legendary Defenders, the Galra.

1 hour later

I was amazed by how much he knew about the Galra. He even met the Queen and King once. I never knew there was a Queen or a King. He even knew why male Galra Omega were females when they changed. It's crazy and different being part of an endangered species, it just means I need to keep myself in check every now and again. But with my loving Altean, Alejandro, I believe i will be okay...and maybe able to make a new species.
