We tumble over and over for what seems like eternity. Time seems to be slowed to an irregular pace, giving me too much time to think. The cars headlights are flickering, the only light in the surrounding darkness, they won't survive the rocky journey. My view is obscured, though I see snippets of the world plunging, through the cracked window. The stereo thumps a steady beat, still on full volume. It's my favourite song. I'd been waiting for it to make its way on from the playlist I made up earlier.

At last, the car comes to a jagged halt on its side. We're all in complete darkness, I'm unable to move, I'm trapped. My right leg is bursting with pain, it's been caught between the car and the drivers seat after the collision. Next to me I see Mandy's head is turned in an abnormal direction, dead. Muffled cries, comes from a blood covered Kat. On her face is a huge gash, covering most of the left side. In the front, Caleb is hunched over the steering wheel, an airbag in his face, his usually picture perfect chestnut hair is sticking out in all directions, a thick layer of dark red blood covers it. A screaming Jacob is kicking at his passenger door with determination, using his left arm to 'hold together' his severely disfigured right.

A sudden, unexpected light makes relief cascade over me. I didn't think anyone would find us, not here, but someone had! Being distracted by the sudden comfort, I had not noticed the stench, or the haze added to my darkened vision. The explosion took me by surprise.
