I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring in my ear. Quickly turning it off I jumped out of bed knowing I couldn't be late to school. I walked slowly over to my closet, scanning my clothes to see my options. Soon settling on a simple cute shirt, some ripped jeans, and a white pull over jacket. After I finished getting dress I put some mascara on, along with some lip gloss.
Grabbing my bag and heading out the door I was ready for the day. But then it hit me I forgot I can't drive right now as my car hadn't been shipped over. So it looks like I'm riding the bus today. "Ugh could this day get any worse," I thought while getting comfortable, not knowing when the bus was going to arrive.
After around 10 minutes the bus had finally arrived. I got up and walked over to the bus, stepping onto it. I looked around, there seemed to be just one seat open. "Thank God," I muttered under my breath. Walking down the walkway I arrived at the seat and sat down. Putting my airpods in my ears, and melting away as the music started to play. "Lets just get through this day," I said to myself thinking it would help in anyway.
The bus started to drive away from my house stopping, and going at different houses until finally the bus stopped at the school. I exited the bus and stood there, looking around at the school that I would be going to for the year. Until I finally started walking towards it, once I got inside I looked around to see if I could find the office. Surprisingly I found it, I would have died if I had to ask someone where it was.
When I got inside of the office, I went over to where I thought was the front desk. Looking around I noticed, there was a sort of dirty blond boy sitting in a chair on his phone, and he looked to be rather tall. Looking around even more I noticed a principles office, a nurses office, and some other offices which I assumed were used by other staff members. Then suddenly I heard a voice that snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Hello there, you look new here. Don't suppose you might Emily Gray by chance," A very nice lady spoke to me.
"Oh yes that's me. Haha, just came here for my schedule, locker combo, and number," I responded trying not to sound rude.
"Aaah yes, those you need," she said handing me a piece of paper. "That's all your going to need, oh I almost forgot. That nice gentlemen over there is going to show you around," she added.
"Great just what I needed some rando showing me around. I mean at least I'll know where I'm going. I guess it can't hurt," I thought as I looked over I saw the boy I saw earlier get up.
"Hi my names Tommy," he said holding his hand out for me to shake. I took it shaking his hand.
"Emily, nice to meet you," I responded. Now looking at him it was way more noticeable just how tall he actually was. It seemed he was about like six foot, and you could tell he was very British, just something I was going to have to get used to now that I lived in the Uk.
"Now I guess we should get going?" He said, snapping me out of my train of thought.
"Oh yeah sorry," I muttered out, realizing I must have been staring. With that being said he starte-\d to walk out of the office, and I followed after him. Trying not to fall behind, with those long legs I was surprised I could even keep up with him considering I was much shorter at the height of five foot, five.
"So what is your locker number," He asked me as we walked down the hall.
"Oh it's 270, is that around here?" I also asked. He just simply nodded. We walked a little bit longer until he finally stopped at what seemed to be my locker. I looked up from the ground I was staring at to see it was in fact my locker. I then pulled out the paper, the desk lady had handed my looking at the code. Going to open the locker I then realized I didn't know how too.
"Hey um... I don't know how to open the locker," I said nervously not knowing if he would get mad at me. But he simply laughed and looked down at me.
"Here let me show you how too," he chuckled out. He then showed me how to open my locker, making sure I was understanding how to. After a couple of minutes I finally had figured out how to open it. Silently thanking myself for picking things up quick, I put my stuff in my locker. Keeping the things I needed for class with me.
"Okay seems like I'm finally ready to get on with this tour," I said looking up at the smiling boy.
"Seems like it doesn't it. I've also noted that we have all the same classes, probably why they asked me to show you around. So lets get off to first period its English I'm pretty sure. So lets get going mate," He responded looking at me. Damn was it weird how they talked still getting to all this stuff. I followed him to the English room while noting some of the other classrooms we passed.
Class wasn't that bad, I wasn't forced to talk to anyone, and sense it was the first day of school they just kind of went over some rules. I'm happy I did come on the first day seeing as it would be hard to get used to things if it wasn't the first day. For most of the day I followed Tommy around, and he seemed to like my presence. We talked a fair amount and I learned a bit about him, noting that his favorite color was red, and he liked to game. Though he never told me what he gamed I didn't see importance in pushing him to tell me what it was.
By the time it was lunch time I felt, pretty comfortable with Tommy. Enough to even as to sit with him. He said yes, after realizing I wouldn't have anyone to sit with, and I honestly thought he wanted me to overall.
"Hey so I've been wondering, what games to you play. You told me you did, and I was just wondering because I game a little bit too," I questioned while we were eating.
"Oh I didn't realize you would care, but sense you asked I play minecraft mainly. I also tend to play some different games with my friends," he responded nervously. Or so it seemed like he was for some reason weird...
"That's cool I game a little bit too. But I mainly play minecraft, maybe we could play together sometime," I excitedly said. But instead of reaction like how I thought he would, he seemed to get shy or some sort like that. I rubbed it off just thinking it was, because I asked to play with him even though we just met. "Or not It's fine if you don't want too, really there's no hard feelings," O quickly added.
"Wait no, It would be fun to play with you. It just caught me off guard a little bit as you don't seem to be the type of person to play video games, let alone minecraft," Tommy laughed. But I couldn't help but wonder what he meant when he said I didn't seem like the one to play video games. I mean I've always tryed to play the part so my parents didn't think I did but I never thought someone would actually think that. Maybe I try too hard, maybe I could lay off the act a little bit.
"Great, that sounds like a plan," I simply said smiling, "Could I have your number so that we can talk more about this later?" I questioned. Though I didn't think he would actually give me his number it was worth a shot right?
"Oh yeah sure its, ***-***-***. Did you get that?" he asked. As I put the number into my phone I nodded.
"Yeah I did, but look at the time we better get to class before were late," I reminded him. I probably would have already been on my way to class but I don't know my way there yet. So we packed up our lunches and headed off to the next class, and before I knew it the day was over and I was saying goodbye to the new friend I had just met.
"Bye, talk to you later?" Tommy asked me as we were about to go our separate ways. I thought for a second. Would I be able to talk to him with how strict my parents were? Should I have even told him that I was gamer too? I probably shouldn't have now that I think about it, what if he asks me to play while my parents aren't asleep. What have I gotten myself into. But before I could think I responded.
"Yeah for sure, can't wait to play with you later," I spoke happily. God what is wrong with my why did I say that. I'm such an idiot. But just like that I got onto the bus and was on my way home, to a place I hated most.
