The court was filled with murmurs of the people present and all it took for the silence to take over was, "Order, order, order. According to all the proof Attorney Abram has presented to the court, Mister Graham, you are proven guilty and are hereby sentenced two years of imprisonment. Thank you, Jury, for your service today. Court is adjourned." The judge announced and made his way out and the murmurs were back on, except this time, louder."Well, well, well. Seems like you've aced another case. Not surprised. How do you do it Miss Abram?" Admiration for the achievement of her's, from one of the attorneys present, reached her sharp ears as he came towards the young lawyer to initiate a conversation. "By using my intelligence unlike some people present among us." Which is what she wanted to reply, but because he was a senior to her in her field of work, she calmly replied.
"I appreciate the compliment Mister Vincent. But I think it's better for me to know my ways, and for you to find out. That is if you do." She didn't intend for her words to come out the way they did. But it can't be helped when the lawyers around her had nothing to say or ask except wanting to know about her success. Either way she had better plans to attend to. He should be with his wife who is probably waiting for him rather than wasting his time in unnecessary talk. She thought.
"Have a good day Mister Vincent." Putting an end to the conversation, exchanging a word or two of gratitude with her clients, she walked out. Stepping outside the court, in all her glory, in her shades. Her silky ebony hair neatly tied up in a high ponytail, her honey toned skin shining in the bright sunlight making her look nothing less than a goddess in the flesh.
A man, that looked like he was in his late fifties, watches her as she strides out of the courtroom. "I'm glad to see you grow into an amazing woman darling. Take care of yourself, I look forward to meeting you which will hopefully be soon." He mumbles to himself. Unlikely to her notice, this particular spectator has been present for all of the cases she has been involved in.
As the young adult waited under the cool shade of a tree, a silver Mercedes Benz stopped in front of her. Rolling down the window of the vehicle a man in his mid twenties, the same age as the girl, popped his head out the window trying to sound intimidating said coldly, "Get in, I don't have time."
Keeping her sunglasses in her handbag, rolling her eyes at the male's attitude towards her which she found childish, she walked over to the other side of the car and got herself seated. "You do realise you aren't intimidating anyone with that tone of yours, at least don't try it on me Mark." And with that they drove off to their house.
"I'm glad July is just around the corner, I can finally stop hearing all your stupid comebacks along with the hot weather."
"That makes two of us, dear husband."
"I'm pretty sure you're happy, you're finally free from Mister Abram." "That too."
Elise Abram, the lawyer nobody has a chance to stand against. At the age of twenty five she has made quite an impression on her colleagues and is arranged in marriage to Mark Simone, for three years under a deal made by her step-father, who is her paternal uncle, after her blood related father and three elder brothers were supposedly dead. The deal was that Elise marries a person of her step-father's choice. The contract marriage lasts for three years. She is free after the deal and does no longer have to live with and under the supervision of her step-father. Even after owning one of the most well known and looked up to successful law firms, she didn't feel completely independent so she never objected to his deal. All she wanted was to have that last breath of freedom. The ultimate goal of this marriage was to increase the profits and ways of income for Elise's step father's and Mark's father's companies.
