Both Paul and Jia were sitting next to each other on the park's bench, where exactly they sat years ago on the same date... 24th April. Silence was ringing inside their heads. But what was the root cause of this silence? What things were they thinking on the eve of 24th April?

21 years ago, 24th April

Paul . A boy from elementary school was enjoying his last days in school. He had to leave school because his father was shifting. Unfortunately he didn't have his mother with him. According to his father she died after the birth of Paul. His mother's name was Mrs. Caroline Davis.

In The evening he went to play in the garden. Though he wasn't there to play but was there to take a last look at his society, his playground. He had just one friend in the society who was Jia. Jia and Paul were best friends, inseparable unlike the poles of the magnet. They used to talk to each other for hours and none of them ever found talking boring and when talking no matter what's going on they were least bothered. But he didn't tell her that this is his last day in this society. In this city. He was feeling very sad. He'll never be able to see Jia . He won't be able To chit chat and laugh on silly things.. He and Jia have been friends for the past 1 year. And now they were best friends. It never happened that he made a best friend in such a short time. They both were very understanding to each other. And he was.. broken down.. but he never never used to show his sadness and everytime Jia used to get it that he's not happy. And this time also Jia guessed. And somehow Paul had to tell him..

"And this is it.. The end of our friendship.. " said Paul with watery eyes. Jia held his hand "it's pretty sad but much more happy. You'll finally get freedom from this society as you are always complaining about their orthodoxy. And after all nothing is permanent. In our real little worlds there's a lot of things that are unavoidable but in such situations we must not hold onto our past and cry over them, as everything that takes place in the universe is for some certain reason. Be it a grain of sand. Wherever you go Paul just remember that everything happens because of a reason. Everything happens for the good of our own. " Said Jia with a made up laugh... trying to please his friend. Paul stood up and walked towards his house. Jia saw him going home until he entered his house... and Paul turned back and saw Jia going back to her house crying.

In the morning, Paul's dad had called a few of the trolley trucks for easy transportation of things. "Paul! You have a visitor" Shouted Mr. Davis." I don't want to meet anyone" cried Paul. "I was kidding it's Jia over here who has come to meet you" again shouted Mr. Davis as he was thinking that it might not be audible to Paul but at the same time it was a disaster for Jia's pair of ears. Nevertheless, Paul came running and hugged her. Mr. Davis completely understood the moment... it's not easy to leave a friend who has been with you all the time during the happy and the tough times. "It's been a couple of hours and it feels like ages!" said Paul, controlling his emotions. Jia also completely understood the moment. After a day or two Paul left the town but he gave Jia his most valuable thing as a parting gift.. his faith, his trust that they'll again meet sometime in some corner of the world.

Present day.

It's been 21 years since that incident. The parting of two best friends. Paul is now a software engineer whereas Jia is a Microbiologist. Both have achieved success in their life for others... not for them.. there was still one thing left... A promise of Childhood. They found each other on social media platforms and today they were meeting.. finally after 21 years of parting, they were going to meet each other to fulfil

the promise which they made during their childhood. It was sunset when Paul reached the park and saw Jia waiting. He went and sat next to Jia on the same seat next to her's. They did not ask their names because they were well aware of each other's presence, each other's aura. There was silence and they both discovered their feelings for each other i.e love and care which they had.

The chirping of birds, the rattling of the bugs, the swish of the air. All seemed to stop. Paul was very happy meeting his friend and so was Jia but no words seemed to come out of their mouths.

They both were waiting for this moment for more than two decades but this moment was new for both of them. This was the silence of The Parted Love which they have developed between themselves unknowingly. Thinking of each other and spending years for just one moment. Jia was on her way to saying something but was interfered by Paul's scream. The ground stated to shake and this made,  the building next to the park was collapse. Earthquake.  And it was falling in the direction of the two (love) birds, each unaware of others feelings. Paul grabs hold of Jia and covers her like a shield as there was no scope of running from the collapsing building. Jia was still unaware of what was happening. "I also wanted to tell you something Paul, I-I I . L-" with a loud bang, with screams everywhere, dust in the atmosphere all around, the siren of the nearly parked ambulance. That was it. The building collapsed. Jia was safe but was still unaware of what was happening until she saw Paul smiling with an iron rod through his ribs dripping with red blood. Smiling, Paul said '' Jia, I w-wanted to tell something... I lo-" his words faded with the last sigh of his breath. Jia was still not aware of what happened just now. She lost track of what was happening. Was it a dream? Was this real? Or was it in his head? But no, the things were real. She kept on seeing the smiling but faded face of his only friend and his loved one.
