prologue

"You're late."

[Name] smiled and gave a half shrug before getting in line, blending with other students. He observed the newcomers with attentive eyes, searching for something that may intrigue him, though his actions were halted when some dorm leaders had spoken.

"I guess this is the end of the dormitory division?" Riddle mumbled to himself, before looking back at his dorm members, "Listen to me, new students. In the Heartslabyul Dorm, I am the rule. I will behead anyone who disobey, so remember that."

Silent protests came from new students, but no one really dared to complain loudly, especially after seeing how obedient their upperclassmen were. They could only abide by the rules and do nothing.

A yawn was heard not long after, "Finally, the tiresome ceremony ended. We’re going back to our dorm, immediately. Savanaclaw Dorm, follow me." Leona, the dorm leader, stated when he, too, saw that the ceremony was about to finish.

"All new students. Congratulations on your enrollment! So you can experience a fulfilling school life. I, as Octavinelle Dorm’s dorm leader, shall support you with all my might." Azul welcomes the new students with a bright smile.

[Name] tilted his head, his eyes darting to the Leech twins, seeing those two looked bored. It seems like nothing interesting happened, after all. The [h/c] male was just standing beside other second year Octavinelle students quietly.

"Even so, I wonder where the headmaster went? He suddenly ran out in the middle of the ceremony ...." Vil mutters in disbelief at the Headmaster's unprofessionalism.

"Abandonment of professional duty ...." Agreed Idia through his tablet.

"Maybe he got a stomach-ache or something?" The only optimistic dorm leader, Kamil, finally gives his own opinion.

"Wrong!"

The door was suddenly barged open, the Headmaster entered proudly with a student who looked resigned to him. The Headmaster shook his head helplessly before holding the raccoon tightly.

"Good grief. There’s one new student missing, so I went to look for them." He explained his disappearance and looked at the lost student. "Now, you’re the only one who hasn’t gotten your dorm yet. I’ll take care of Raccoon-kun, so quickly go in front of the mirror."

The raccoon is clearly unhappy with the treatment, trying to loosen the Headmaster's grip on it. But to no avail, its attempts were futile as it could only watch the lost student going in front of the Mirror.

[Name] just looked bored with the ceremony even though he just came. "Can't I just skip the ceremony next year?" He grumbled.

"No, you can't." Jade answered him, "The entrance ceremony is mandatory, you should know that."

[Name] didn't reply and just clicked his tongue, not paying attention to the commotion in front. He finds nothing that would be his object of interest, so he just stared blankly at the new students.

"State thy name."

The student hesitated for a second before opening his mouth, "Yuu."

"The shape of thy soul is ...." The Mirror of Darkness went quiet for a while as everyone waited patiently. "... is unknown."

Now this got his attention. Murmured was heard in the room, confused with what had just happened. This was the first time a student couldn't be sorted into a dorm. So what was the problem? Everyone asked the same thing.

The Headmaster looked the most surprised, he stuttered out a question. "Come again?"

"I sense not a spark of magic from this one .... The color, the shape, all are nothing. Therefore, they are suited for no dormitory." The Mirror of Darkness elaborate, voice booming through the place.
