I'm currently playing on the swing in the garden. I know I'm being too hard on Ana, but there's this constant nagging in the back of my head telling me not to trust her, and I trust my instincts more than people.

I'm very smart for an eight-year-old.

As the swing gently moves back and forth I contemplate what to do about Ana. It's no secret I don't fully trust her, but I know she loves my dad. That's the only reason I'm nice with her, but me being nice doesn't come before me being honest.

I'm disturbed from my thoughts as I hear rustling in the trees behind me. I edge my small frame off the seat and prepare to run. My dad and uncles want to keep me innocent for as long as possible, the same with Isaac, they haven't even started his training yet. Isaac and I are not stupid, well... I'm not stupid, we know our family is in the mafia. We know Liam is the boss and my dad is his second in command, I mean, their favourite film is the Godfather. They couldn't make it more obvious. They will train Isaac to be the new leader, and I will train to be the second in command, whether my father wants it or not, I have the birth right to be a second in command. And I won't leave my best-friend alone in this world. Our world.

But like I said, they're stubborn and haven't started our training, so I'm planning to run. A tall, thin woman emerges from the tree line. She has long, blonde hair and hazel eyes, and despite me looking a lot like my dad, I see some of me in her too.

"Hello." She says, she walks closer and I back up. She notices my uneasiness and stops.

"I'm not going to hurt you. Can I sit?" She gestures to the swing next to the one I'm stood infront of. I nod my head and slide back on the seat.

"Who are you?" I question once she sits down. Her eyes bore into mine, then an emotion crosses her face as realisation sets in. She clears her throat and says.

"I'm called Lyla. I used to live here a long time ago, I was in trouble with some bad people, some of the men found me and brought me back. What's your name?" She explains.

"Kylie McKlee, my dad's works here, he's the second man in charge."

She looks me up and down, shock evident on her face. "My god, you've grown so much." She mutters, her hand caressing my cheek.

"Do I know you?" I ask, eyeing her curiously.

"I'm your mother." With that I rip myself from her grasp and run away. Horror and pain flows freely out of my eyes and down my cheeks. I turn the corner and see my dad and Ana

"Daddy!" I scream running up to him
