Time on the clock reads half past two in the morning. You are wide awake, thinking.

It's just another hot summer night, so you decided to sleep on the floor. As usual, you can't sleep because of all the heat.

As if it isn't enough already, you can hear loud noises from across the road, where your neighbour is having a big party. Music is pounding a lot louder than it should and you are very surprised nobody rang the police yet. Even if they had invited you, you would not go as you don't like any of the people there.

You roll over to your stomach, taking the pillow off of the floor and shutting your ears with it. You groan after realising it doesn't help.

You sob into the floor, annoyed, deeply exhale and decide to get up. You, still in the dark, stumble across your blanket as you try to get to the door.

You slowly and quietly sneak out of the house. In your largest tshirt and barefoot, with a messy bun made of your hair, you're stepping toward the loud house, seeing drunken classmates of yours on the front porch. You hear whistles and laughter as you pass by them, but you ignore them and knock as hard as you can.

Because you don't get any response, you open the door and barely succeed jostling pass the people into the crowded hallway. You receive many weird looks, probably because of your appearance, but you don't mind.

You search the house, trying to find the host, Mark. You only see him as you look into the kitchen for the second time.

You stop him as he tries to get up on the counter.

You pull him with you, making your way outside, in the back yard, where the music is just quiet enough so you don't have to shout. "Can you please turn down the music? At least a little bit." you ask him.

He, with just enough alcohol in his butt to smile at you, regardless of what you say, tells you: "No, you geekhead! This party rocks!"

"Oh, come on! I really want to go to sleep." you oppose him.

"What, so you can study tomorrow?"

"It's summer. The one who should be studying is you." you tell him, feeling like you just told a perfect burn.

He mimicks a shocked face as he says: "Oh, you got me! But really, for once, just try to enjoy life!"

He walks away from you, not waiting for your answer. You stand there, considering your options when you hear a hello, coming from behind your back.

You turn around and see a tall guy, well built, with black hair and piercing blue eyes. "Hey, I'm Richard."

You, surprised, but intrigued, decide to follow Mark's advice and say: "Y/N."

"That's a very pretty name. You interested in having a drink with me?"

You say yes and he brings you a cup of beer. You talk and meanwhile more and more cups get empty.

After a while he asks you: " You wanna go somewhere quieter?"

After you give him a questioning look, he adds: "I'm not that hammered, I swear!"

You smile and nod and he tells you to follow him. You walk through the house, follow a road that leads you up a hill and in about fifteen minutes you stop at the top of the hill, away from all the houses, from all noises.

He sits on the grass and you follow his lead.

You both stare at the stars and watch how moonlight perfectly lightens up your small town. The music from the party is hardly heard here, in the middle of nowhere. You hear just a quiet soundtrack, just a pleasant beat in the distance.
