The Weasleys, and specifically Arthur, were definitely seen as the odd ones out of the pure blooded wizarding families. They were seen as blood traitors due to Arthur's interest in muggles. What the wizarding world didn't know was that Arthur's curiously didn't stop at intrigue, he wanted to participate in muggle culture, in muggle activities, he wanted to friend muggles, if not more.A tea shop had caught Arthur's eye during one of the times he'd been able to get out into the muggle world. Harry had taught him the basics of muggle money, and he had managed to get his hands on some, so he went inside. The man behind the counter smiled at Arthur as he entered, his name tag read William. William was short, but Arthur didn't think anything of it as he walked towards the counter.
"Hello," Arthur kindly spoke, looking at the man in front of him, "so what do you have in here.. William?"
William smiled again at the ginger, and set down the cup he had been holding. "Well, we have tea, but we also have biscuits, scones, jam, and a few other things. Anything in particular that you're looking for?" He looked up at the man, awaiting his reply.
Arthur couldn't help but admit the brunet was attractive, and that his blue eyes seemed to have a certain sparkle to them. He quickly averted his eyes, a light blush quickly coming over his face. "Ah- right, just some tea would do, thank you."
The brunet, William, nodded. He gestured to a table, probably for Arthur to go and sit, so he did. A few minutes later, William brought Arthur the tea. There was also what appeared to be a folded piece of paper. Arthur unfolded it, looking at it in confusion as the strange looking line of numbers came into view.
Arthur raised his head, and looked at William. This was the first time now that he had realized he was the only customer currently in the shop.
"Excuse me? Sir- er.. William? Is it alright for me to call you that?" Arthur waited for some form of communication, William nodded, then continued. "Right, William, so.. what is this number? Does it have some sort of meaning?"
William flushed, and quickly walked over, seemingly embarrassed. "Oh, it uh.. it's a phone number.. I know some people don't have phones, but.. I didn't know some people just.. didn't know what they are. S-sorry, do you know what a phone is?"
Arthur shook his head, and William sighed a bit, but continued.
"A phone is a communication device," William pulled out a small white metal and glass rectangle that was kept in a multicoloured rubber and plastic case that covered all but one side. "This is mine. They're very handy, we use them to talk to people who are far away, and we can send.. 'letters' on them. They aren't really letters, but that's the closest comparison I can think of that doesn't have anything to do with electronics.. sorry, tangent, right. So that number.. is my phone number. I was, er.. trying to ask for you to maybe call me sometime, but I suppose that won't work if you don't have a phone..."
William trailed off, now looking at Arthur's hand, and his face grew red from embarrassment. Arthur followed his gaze, and realized he was looking at his wedding band.
William quickly took the paper, and walked back to the counter, tossing it into the rubbish bin. "I'm sorry, I should have realized, you can just.. ignore what I had been saying. I don't know why you'd have taken my offer anyway, I'm a complete stranger." He faced away, trying to hide his face, but he knew he couldn't very well leave with a customer in the shop.
Arthur looked at his wedding band. He loves Molly, but he had been meaning to speak to her about maybe opening their relationship a bit more. He had been thinking about having a polyamorous relationship, and he loved the idea, he also already knew he liked men so having a man be the third in the relationship would be best as his wife seemingly only wanted to have romantic relations with men.
Arthur cleared his throat, trying to gain the other man's attention, and waved William over when he had turned. William slowly made his way over to the table, expecting to be yelled at or even threatened, he knew he should never have given him his phone number.
Arthur began to speak after what felt like an eternity for the two men. "So.. I'll have to see if my wife is open to the idea, but.. if you giving me that number meant what I think it did, then.. well, I see no harm in telling you. I have been hoping to begin a polyamorous relationship, so if she agrees, then.. I'll come back and let you know. If you're both open to the idea, I can bring her here first, and then we could maybe bring you to our home to meet the children." Arthur quickly stopped once he realized that he'd have to explain both the world filled with magic, as well as letting this man know that he and Molly had 7 children, not counting their unofficially adopted son, Harry. This was a large number, even in the wizarding community.
William blushed once again, but gave a small smile and nodded. "Alright.. I'll keep that in mind. I'll let you have this one on the house.. oh, dear. This is embarrassing. I don't believe I ever got your name?"
"Arthur. Arthur Weasley."
"Right. Well, I hope to see you again, Arthur. I do hope you'll come by even if she doesn't agree, at least to let me know so I don't keep waiting."
Arthur chuckled a bit, and smiled warmly at William "of course. I look forward to seeing you again, William."
