Undying Love - WangXian

Chapter 2- cocked the block , blocked the cock

Perhaps it was a blessing, instead of an old balding man supervising him, Wei Wuxian saw the golden eyes belonging to the male with slicked back hair. Lan Wangji was standing at the front of the class reading a book. The school rule book which included about 400 rules. Wei Wuxian walked in and sat in the seat right in front of Lan Wangji.

"Copy the school rules 3 times." The voice came from the man in front of Wei Wuxian.

Blessing? It's a curse! Having to copy the school rules 3 times sounds like it's easier said than done, but copying 400 rules three times? Wei Wuxian couldn't believe his luck. He slumped over his desk and groaned out of disappointment. Lan Wangji could only sigh. He picked up the rule book he had placed on Wei Wuxian's table.

To his surprise, it was switched over with an erotic art book that had the same cover as the school rule book. In response, he had dropped the book on the floor while Wei Wuxian gets up from his position and bursts out laughing. Lan Wangji's face was red. He was visibly angry and that sent shivers down Wei Wuxian's spine. 

Wei Wuxian immediately went for the book when his hands had met with the other person's hand. Their focus shifted from the book to the eyes of the male that was present in front. Lan Wangji immediately took his hand back while Wei Wuxian grabbed the book. Right before Lan Wangji could say a word after opening his mouth, the fire alarm rung.

Wei Wuxian ran towards the door and pushed it open. He was then pulled back by Lan Wangji, just in time to not get burnt by the spreading fire. Wei Wuxian felt relieved at Lan Wangji's fast reaction. It certainly was an unfortunate situation for them.

"Don't act rashly," said Lan Wangji.

Wei Wuxian nodded in response. Smoke started entering the detention room.If they waited any longer they would be burnt to death for sure. Lan Wangji started looking around the room for stuff while Wei Wuxian tried signalling for help by waving his hand out the window. Lan Wangji couldn't find anything but pieces of cloth. Looking at the situation, there were two solutions. Jump out the window or run out through the fire. Both were suicidal but jumping out the window was definitely not that great of an option. 

Wei Wuxian's vision started getting blurry. He had inhaled too much smoke. Wei Wuxian dropped onto his knees and covered the bottom half of his face with his hand, deliberately trying to avoid inhaling any more smoke. Lan Wangji rushed over right before Wei Wuxian fell unconscious. He checks to see whether Wei Wuxian is still breathing. Fortunately, he was. Lan Wangji then took off his jacket and placed it over Wei Wuxian's head and, he took a piece of cloth and covered his mouth. He carried Wei Wuxian on his back and rushed out of the detention room, running through the fire, straight down the stairs.

Jiang Cheng was visibly worried because he couldn't find Wei Wuxian at the gathering point. Jiang Yanli had rushed over from her dorm to check on the two but, her eyes widen after finding out Wei Wuxian was still in the building. She tried to run towards the building but was stopped by her brother, looking at her as if he was pleading her not to do anything that could possibly harm her in any form of way. 

Lan Wangji ran down to the second floor when his way was blocked by more fire spreading. He looked around and saw a nearby bathroom. He rushed in and placed Wei Wuxian's down to check for any injuries. Unfortunately, some parts of his pants had burnt and burnt his skin a bit. Lan Wangji's injuries were worse for sure. He saw the fire started to spread into the bathroom and immediately opened the window at the back of one of the cubicles. He looked down and saw a seemingly soft patch of grass. He sighed and carried Wei Wuxian, took deep breaths and leapt out the window.

Fortunately, the second level wasn't too high up so it wouldn't cause any severe damage to him. Jin Zixuan happened to be looking around for students when he saw Lan Wangji tending to Wei Wuxian's wound despite his being much worse. Jin Zixuan called over a few teachers for assistance

||Flashback||

"Mother! Father! It's so hot...where are you..?" a young Wei Wuxian yelled out.

In front of him was the front door , which would help him exit his house. He looked back and saw raging fires consuming his house. Wei Wuxian could not hesitate any further and he immediately ran out of the house, praying that his parents could find a way out too. Wei Wuxian looked at his house being engulfed in flames. He looked at the window of the master bedroom and saw both his parents hugging each other, accepting death as their option.

The young child's eyes widen, he refused to believe what he just saw. Tears formed in his eyes, streaming down his cheek. He opened his mouth, as if he wanted to yell out for his parents, but nothing could come out. Not even a slight screech. His visions begins to fade and he faintly heard sirens before his vision fades to black.

||Present||

Wei Wuxian jumps up from where he was laying down at when he felt his head hit another. He looked around and saw that he was in the hospital, with Jiang Yanli and Jiang Cheng sitting beside him. Jiang Yanli rubbed her forehead, and gave Wei Wuxian a slight push, signalling him to lie back down. Wei Wuxian obeyed while Jiang Cheng let out a sigh.

"Drink some water, alright?" Jiang Yanli told Wei Wuxian as she handed him a glass of water. Wei Wuxian took it right out of her hands and chugged it down. Jiang Cheng was snacking on almonds as he watched Wei Wuxian ask Jiang Yanli a few questions. He started feeling annoyed and exclaimed, "Am I invisible to you? You've been talking to my sister ever since you woke up as if I was never here! Acknowledging my presence is the least you could do." Wei Wuxian laughed and sticked out his tongue.

"What happened to Lan Wangji?" Wei Wuxian questioned and the room went silent.
