Since I first became a goddess I always thought that the mortal world was a delicate place. Many gods never cared about it, and just sent random blessings when they got bored. I, on the other hand, spent my time in the immortal realm, smoking a pipe, eating and drinking. I didn't want to see what other gods had done since it was never a good thing. But every once in a while I would look upon the world and see how it was doing. If a plague or famine was in place, I would lessen the pain of it and give rain, or herbs in the ground to help doctors with medicine. It wasn't hard for me since I was a powerful goddess but I just hated that most gods wouldn't care about their consequences. But, it wasn't my place to say anything since I was never wanted anything to do with it. Even though I interfered, I couldn't tell other gods to control themselves since they wouldn't listen anyway. Thankfully I had Kipo by my side. He was a little energetic spirit I created that evolved into a hungry power house cutie. He never went anywhere without food and always kept a happy attitude. Always!
Kipo: Ms Hachi! Ms Hachi!
Hachi: hmm?
Kipo: there's a tsunami heading for the mortal realm. Over half of it's gonna get covered!
Hachi: Eh? Who would do such a dumb thing?
Kipo: It was the water god!
Hachi: (sigh) that stupid man. He can never get over the floods that he was supposed to create. There's a reason his plan was rejected by most gods. Ugh, I guess there's nothing I can do now.
Kipo: EEEHHH?!?! You're giving up Ms Hachi?!
Hachi: I'm sorry Kipo, but there's nothing else I can do. It's not my place.
Kipo: Can't you go the there and save some people?
Hachi: there must be an arch somewhere so the world doesn't go extinct. Some people will be fine.
Kipo: nnnngh~ FINE! I'll go find news on the floods.
Hachi: do as you will.
I began to sip the large saucer a had full of sake and puffed a smoke from my pipe. I floated over the one of the stalls in my corridor and a poof was on the table that revealed a bowl of ramen.
Hachi: mmmm, I'm not really feeling ramen right now~ maybe some more alcohol. The poof became a tall cup of beer and I gradually took sips of it with a smile. Suddenly a bell rang and it repeatedly kept on going off and on. I looked around for where the noise was coming from and I saw it was a old fashion phone. I picked it up and a long, loud DING sound started. When the noise stopped, a voice could be heard.
"hello! Kipo! There's a notice for you. A little girl's mother just died. Can you go make sure she's ok. Ok? Thanks Kipo~! Gotta Go!"
Hachi: eh? . . . .
What just happened!?! A little girl's mother was dead? What?! How?! I couldn't help but question what the person on the phone had said. And why was Kipo being called for such a thing. He never seems like the-
Hachi: . . . oh, he's been helping mortals out hasn't he?
I thought long and hard on what I should do and decided to go to the mortal world to see what had happened to this little girl. I floated through the gate and appeared in an alley way on my feet. It seemed like my clothes were outdated with what mortals had evolved from, so I changed into a sweater with pants, wearing a mid trench coat with it. I walked into the street and for a moment everything was very loud, then I came to my senses and began to walk in the direction of the house. As I walked there, many things had changed from when I was there last. For one thing, car finally came into existence. They were everywhere! And humans were wearing all sorts of things now in day. Before it was a simple kimono, and no one ever showed skin. There were "cafes" and restaurants, and to my surprise no bars or alcoholic places! None that I could see whatsoever. When I arrived at the house, it was in an apartment and has many stories. I entered the building and went up the elevator there to the eighth floor. As I approached the door I knocked on it and it gave a slight creak. I entered in and to the right was the girl sitting on the floor holding her mother. The mother was dead. Died of a heart attack it seemed and the girl was teared up, not letting go. I gave a slight gasp and bent down the girl's level.
Hachi: you poor child, please come here. I promise I won't hurt you.
girl: (sniff) b-b-but — MAMAAA~ Waaaaaah!
The girl fell in my arms and I gave her a tight hug. I stared at the mother's body as it lied there. Her eyes were closed and her skin was pale. A few flies landed on her arm with no reaction, but her skin had a bluish tint. The body didn't seem to have been there long, but it was definitely more than a few hours.
Hachi: what's your name sweetie?
girl: . . . .Mina (sniff)
Hachi: how long has mommy been asleep for, Mina?
girl: she fell down yesterday.(sniff) I tried to wake her up, but she wouldn't (hick) do I gave her hugs(begins to tear up) I Wish Mommy Would Wake Up!!!! Waaaah~
Mina dug her face into my shoulder and wouldn't let go. I didn't have the same intentions either with what she had just gone through. After a few minutes I asked Mina for a phone and she pointed to the house phone that was on the table. I called the police and told her that a woman was dead in her apartment. They rushed over but by the time they rushed over I had left Mina there at the entrance of the door. I couldn't get caught by the police or anyone since that would've complicated things for me. As I watched the police enter the apartment building, they closed off the building area, and brought out the body. I gave a sad look as Mina came out and she looked at me. I then smiled for her and thankfully she didn't cry. She entered the police car and they drove off leaving other officials to take care of the rest. When she drove off I took a big breath and began to walk away. I walked down the street and into the small crowded alleyways where many stalls and small restaurants were. I walked by a few until I noticed a small bar area with a few people. I walked over and saw the many different types of alcohol. Then an old man came up to the bar with a smile.
Oji-San: well hello there~ what can I get ya.
Hachi: ?. . . umm. . .
Oji-San: not used to bars?
Hachi: no, not really. . .
Oji-San: then how about we start with your alcohol tolerance.
Hachi: It's very high! I can handle my own!
Oji-San: so anything will do? Then let me show you these.
The old man pulled out a small menu that had different drinks on it. He recommended a few and I chose from them. It was called a Salty Dog. He then went on, on how it was made while he was making the drink.
Oji-San: The Salty Dog's a simple drink but it packs a nice punch when you drink it. First goes the glass. You line the rim with lemon juice, then ya dip it in salt. Next you add the ice halfway, and add the vodka. Most people add waaaaa~y to much but all ya really need is a good 20ml. Then add the Grapefruit juice and stir.
(180ml for the grapefruit juice if you were wondering)
Now ya add a teensy salt and BAM! We're done!
He slid the drink over to in front of me and I stared at it with intent eyes.
Oji-San- go on~ it won't bite~
I picked up the glass and took a good gulp of the drink. When I put the glass down my went with it as well. The old man gave a grin and the person next to me had a nervous look. After a second or two I lifted my head and began to squirm with happiness.
Hachi: ITS SOOOO GOOOD~~!!
Oji-San: HAH! Good right?
Hachi: Thankyou~ it's delicious! Waaah~ this wa~y better than sake or plain old beer. It's better than fancy wine itself!
Oji-San: oh good!
Hachi: how much for it?
Oji-San: this ones on the house. I can tell you'll be back for more, so I'll get my money then.
Hachi: REALLY!?! Aaaaw~ You're amazing Oji-San!
I continued to talk to Oji-San and finished my drink. As I stood up and bowed to say he goodbye he gave a nice nod and smile and I left. I continued down the road till I got to an empty alley where I opened a gate to the immortal realm. When I got there, I had my clothes changed and I went back to the soft cloud I called my bed. I fell asleep so easily and my mind drifted off from the day that I had had. Kipo came out and noticed me and called me a few times, but as I was asleep I didn't answer. He jumped onto the cloud I was on and looked a face.
Kipo: oh, she's asleep. I wonder what she did to fall asleep so easily.By the way, if your an ADULT that can drink, I would definitely recommend trying a Salty Dog. Without the salt, it's called a BullDog. I'm not an alcohol person and I don't really drink alcohol, but from people's reviews and stuff, it's seems to be a good drink that doesn't have a lot of alcohol or the smell of alcohol. These recipes are legit, as I did some research. But the amount of ml may differ depending on the person. If you'd like to know more, just search up a Salty Dog. ✌︎︎☃︎
