I took a deep breathe. Atlast the smell of autumn. It's been 8 years since we moved here at Central Grove. I've made a friends and lived peacefully.
"Athanasia" Betty called "I've been calling you for ages" I laughed "Sorry bets my mind often wanders. I wonder if you've come across it" I giggled. Betty was the very first friend I made ever since I moved here. I remember when I first arrived they were all amazed by my hair and kept asking if the silver linings in my hair are natural.
"What do you plan to do on your coming-of-age" Betty mocked "I don't know. Still haven't asked my parents yet. I wanna go clubbing like those gurls" I whispered to betty while pointing my lips on the horde of female who calls themselves elites or whatever
"I'm gonna be 18 soon and still haven't asked my parents their permission, they've been so strict" I mumbled
While walking to school and talking about the plan for my birthday extravaganza, betty bumped into one of the female elite
"Watch it stupid" she exclaimed "You should watch your language" I winked "outcast" she groanedWe've been labeled as outcast by those female horde.
"So bets what should we do? How do you propose I tell my parents?" I asked while bumping into her shoulders
"To be honest, I'm a but intimidated by your parents eversince. Like if I'm their daughter. I'd be afraid to ask them for permission. They've been completely strict with you as far as I can remember, not a single sleepover with me but I've had a dozen of sleepovers with you"
"I know bets, and that's why I'm so afraid of this. I can't even begin to fathom the horror of me getting permission to go out painted all over their faces"
We both giggled as we make our way to our lockersThe day ended as usual and Betty and I made our way home. As we go down our usual path we came across a group of men emerging from the forest. I forgot to mention that Central Grove is a home to thousand of oakwoods. A better place to live or so they say forest is life.
As we went past them. I quickly noticed a man, I think he's a bit opder than me 3 or 4 years older. He's quite peculiar. He has bright blue eyes that seems to glimmer and his hair was bit like mine but mine's prettier. My hair is almost silver with black highlights but his is the opposite of mine. Black hair with silver highlights.
For a moment I though our eyes met. That bright blue eyes that seemed to see past my soul. Until Betty's call awakened me
"So how do you plan to tell Athy?"
"Well hell break lose, I still don't know maybe some puppy eyes would do"
She laughed and waved at me goodbye as we reached our house
"I'll see you tomorrow bets"
She smiled and disappearedI entered our door silently, only to hear my parents arguing. I leaned in to hear but they opened the door.
"Hi Mom! Dad! Is everything alright?"
"Yes sweetie, go up your room, get changed and we'll have dinner okay!"I only have 5 days left till my coming-of-age as betty calls. I need to muster the courage of asking my parent's permission to go clubbing.
After getting changed I decided that I have to tell them today. It's now or never!
"So how's school" My father asked as he made his way towards his chair "It's fine dad, uh there's something I have to ask"
"What is it sweetheart?" My mother said as she placed food on our table
I took a deep breathe a mustered al the courage I can get
"It's only 5 days left till my birthday, I wonder if I can go to some club with Betty"
My mother and father looked at me with horrible faces
"No Athanasia" There was authority in his voice "Did Betty put this idea in your head athy?" My mother asked
"No! It was my idea! I've been locked in here for a long time not once did you ever let me go and enjoy my youth, and now you're blaming Betty for the freedom I'm asking?" I stood up
"Athanasia get back here!" my mother shouted "All my life you've always said no! Do you remember when I was kid and asked for a bike since all my friends have their own bike and I would look through the window while watching them glide down our front yard, I was crying all because I couldn't have my own bike! I just wanted to have fun with them and then Betty saw me crying on our porch eversince then Betty never rode her bike again just to accompany me while I walk to school every single day!" I shouted angrily
