As the Alaskan snow was on the ground I smiled as I skipped to the building in Juneau where I had set up my flyers.
Hopeful for a new job I waited for the bus 3 miles away from where I needed to go. I loved walking, don't get me wrong. But when the tempeture never gets higher than 30 degrees even in summer, and the snow is always on the ground,I didn't want to get a cold on my first day of a job hopefully.
The bus arrived and I stepped on. It was October 22nd,1929. People were complaning about the roaring twentys,as they called them being over.I however didn't know what it was like to go to one of those famous plays or dances,or anything. But as long has I had my book and the snow falling down,I was happy. I watched the tall buildings as we passed them. I've always loved Juneau the city. I the beautiful cold and the tall buildings made me smile. The lights at night and all the people made me feel not alone. Finally we arrived at my stop. I was so exited that I almost forgot to pay with my little money left. I ran to my one and only flyer and looked. I had a job! For a family called the leafs. They had written down to meet me here at 3 which was an hour away. I whent to a famous Juneau restrant called "deliciously snowy". I bought us all some hot chocolates and went back out. After a couple of minutes they arrived in an automobile. I smiled as I help out my tray of drinks. There was a mom,2 girls and 2 boys.
They gladly took the treats.
"Nice to meet you," the mom said." My name is Mary."
"Nice to meet you. I'm fif."
"This is Henry,Cliff,F,and snowy".
"Nice to meet you all."
She handed me a slip of paper." Here is our address. Pack up your things and meet us there."
"Yes ma'am."
They headed off and so did I. I took the bus back home and thanked god for giving me a job. My home was an apartment. It was really small and I did not owe much. My dog cab hopped happily when I returned. He licked my face and I gave him a piece of bread. I packed my only clothes,my work stuff, and cabs food in a bag and we headed off.
I read the address.
Snowflake street hotel. Room 22.
I knew that place. It was a rich person hotel. The rooms were the size of 20 normal houses. I smiled. I worked for a ric family. Once I got there we climbed the stairs to the 22nd floor. When I knocked,Mary opened. The place was amazing. Mary smiled at me." I don't think you understood. I told you to pack all your stuff."
"This is all I have." Cab walked in and looked around." Can I have my dog? He's a nice yellow lab."
"Sure." She gave me the tour." There are 6 bedrooms. There is a kitchen,a dining room,a maids closet, your office for working,a living room,3 bathrooms, and a attic. Every person in the hotel has one." She led me to a room with snowflakes on the walls and a desk,a bed,and a dresser." This is yours."
