Gabriel Hertz was a very smart boy, a very nice one, too. His only flaw is that he is pretty shy, but I wouldn't see that as a flaw. Hi, my name is Taylor Maxwell, and I have had my eye on Gabriel for a while now, if you saw him, you wouldn't blame me.
The weirdest thing is that he's my best friend of 7 years now, and I can't be selfish and just tell him that I like him, I wouldn't risk our friendship like that. "Ah, Mr. Maxwell, would you please do the honors of answering the question on the board?" Mr. Devintaz said. I could see that sinister smirk even behind the cloth mask, still, I went and answered the question with no difficulty. His smirk had faded, and he went back to teaching.
*BRIIIIINGGGGGGGGGGGGGG*
The annoying, budget-cut, bell rang. It sounded like electricity shooting through someone's veins. "Don't forget there's a quiz on Tuesday!" Mr. Devontaz shouted through the stampeding students which were in a hurry to get out. All but Gabriel. I always waited for him to pack his stuff up since he had a lot, but now he just seemed sad.
"Hey, Gabe! What's up?"
"Hm?" He looked shocked, his eyes were puffy and red. He looked like he cried all day and night. "Oh, hey Taylor, I just need to get my stuff, wait in the hall please." He said, his nose was stuffy, his eyebags stood out, he looked so... tired..?
I've never seen him like this. "Sure.." I spoke, sounding uncertain. I have to admit, I'm pretty worried for the dude. I know I have to ask him about what's going on. I just don't think I'm ready yet.
