"Haylie, we must go now".

When the blankets were pulled off me, I reacted as if cold water splashed onto me.

My eyes popped open and I sat up quickly. I looked at my father with a bit of annoyance.

"Really dad?" I asked.

"Get. Dressed", He snapped.

"I just. Woke up", I snapped back. I got out of bed and pulled out my outfit for today. Father left my room, leaving me to change into my outfit.

After getting my outfit on, I went downstairs where our suitcases were already by the door.

I tried to fix the brown tie around my neck. "You don't need that", Father said as he took the tie from me.

"I like it. It makes me feel beautiful", I said.

"You don't need it. You're already beautiful", Father said. "But if you really want to wear it". He handed the tie back to me.

I thought about taking it, but I said, "Perhaps you're right. I don't need it".

Father sets the tie on the coat rack. We grabbed our suitcases and walked out the door.

I grabbed his hand. Together, we disapparate to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

I had graduated from this school last year, but the Headmaster, Professor Dumbledore said he needed my help.

My father and I walked into the castle. His cape flows as he walked. I rolled my eyes.

He's so dramatic.

We entered Dumbledore's office. Dumbledore was sitting at his desk. Fawks the Phoenix was standing on his pole.

There was a man standing by Dumbledore's desk. He must have been new because I don't remember seeing him during my years of Hogwarts.

"Ah, Severus. I see you've brought young Haylie", Dumbledore said. "Professor, you remember Remus Lupin".

"How could I not?" Father asked, glaring at Remus Lupin.

"Severus", Remus said. He sounded...uncomfortable.

I looked at Dad. "Is there anyone you don't hate?" I asked.

"Now that we're all caught up, I must address that there's been an escape from Azkaban. I'm sure you've all heard", Dumbledore said.

I shook my head. My father and Remus Lupin nodded. I'm the only one who didn't know about this? Are you serious?

"Well, Haylie, there was a prisoner in Azkaban by the name of Sirius Black. He's the first to escape Azkaban", Dumbledore explained.

"He's a murderer", Father said.

I noticed Lupin clench his fist. Did he know Sirius Black? Did Father know him?

"I've heard of him. So...he's escaped Azkaban?" I asked.

"Yes", Dumbledore said.

"Is he coming after Harry Potter?" I asked.

"We believe so", Father said.

"If Sirius Black is to come into this castle, we need your help in protecting Harry and any other student", Dumbledore said.

I nodded. I was at last, asked to leave. Me and Remus Lupin walked out of Dumbledore's office.

"You are Severus's daughter, yes?" Lupin asked. I nodded. "How old are you?"

"18", I said. "You're probably thinking my dad is too young to have an 18 year old daughter". Lupin nodded. "It was a uh...onenight stand with a drunk Muggleborn at 15. So, I'm a mistake".

"I don't believe anyone is a mistake, Haylie. No matter how they came to be. You're not a mistake", Remus said.

A small smile appeared on my lips. He seemed like a nice guy. The only question that was on my mind was, why didn't Dad want me around him?

"I should get going. I'm sure Severus wouldn't want his daughter around someone like me", Remus said.

Before I could ask him any questions, he walked away. Now, I had other questions on my mind about Remus Lupin.

What did he mean by "people like me"? What makes him so different? Why does my father hate him?

My name is Haylie Snape. And I think I'm going to have one hell of a year.
