It was around night, your stomach growled in hunger. “I'm hungry.” You tapped your belly. The burning uproar wasn't ending. “Maybe, I should take a walk? It's just 9:00 P.M. anyways.” Wiping the sweat off your forehead, you open the door of your room. Walking out of your hut.
Hushed murmurs and a small gathering caught your attention. “She's about to give birth in a few months. That day ain't far, when our village would start flourishing with richness again.” The voice was a well known one. “Kumbha, when do you think we should start with the ceremony?” One of them interrogates.
“Once she gives birth we'll prepare for the sacrifice. A new mother and her child's sacrifice would bring us enormous blessings.” Kumbha confirmed. “Shean's flesh looks quite tender, and delicious. I can't wait for that day.”
The feeble voice didn't go unnoticed by you. It was the granny who visited you on the first day of your arrival here. “These people are cannibals?” Covering your mouth, you rush away from there.
Your feet carried you to the bright white tent set up a few metres away from your hut. “Jimin!!” Pushing the blinds of the tent you run to him. Jimin looked at your frightened face, hugging you. “What happened? What's wrong?” Drawing imaginary circles on your back he attempts to calm you down.
“These people, Jimin they-” you were short of breath. “Y/N breath.” Taehyung and Jungkook, who were surprised by your entry, gently spoke. Jimin was whispering sweet nothings in your ear. “Jimin save me, these people are planning to kill my baby. They are cannibals, taking me in their village was a way to sacrifice me and the child once I give birth.”
Jungkook and Taehyung gasped. “No one shall hurt you or our child, I'm here now.” He helped you sit on the cot, offering a glass of water. You had run away from him to find peace, now you're here again running back to him. Pleading with him to save your unborn child. “How did you find out?”
You drank the water. “I decided to take a walk, to distract myself from hunger. When I overheard Kumba and the villagers discussing when to kill me. The oldest granny here was gushing about how I looked soft and tender. From the day I've come here they have been cautious about my baby.”
“I hid my pregnancy term from them, having my suspicions on their behaviour. Turns out my senses were right.” Jimin blamed himself for your condition. “Eat this, you won't be hungry.” Removing a cup of rice and curry he forwarded it to you.
Your eyes watered at the sight. This was the first time in months you had been exposed to a decent meal. “Hey, why are you crying? I haven't mixed anything in this I promise?” Jimin quickly explained. If only, he knew those were tears of joy.
“It's not that I haven't had a proper meal for the past two months.” Taking a bite of the food, your tears flow down your face.
He takes the bowl from your hand, feeding you. “I'm sorry, please come back to me. I want this child, I want you with me. No rules would be set this time. I'm not forcing you to accept me back as your husband. Return to the palace for your own well-being.”
You didn't want to forgive him. At the same time, you knew he was right. There was no place you could turn to now. “Fine, I'll come back with you. Do not hope for any love from me.” He bobs his head content.
Jimin wasn't expecting you to forgive him, all he craved for was your safety. “Will you stay here for the night? We'll leave once it's morning.” Without hesitation you agree with him. Those people can't be trusted. Who knows they might sneak into your room at midnight and kill you?
