The setting sun shone through the bay windows dotted around the book shop . It had been slow all day due to it being Friday . You looked up to the clock and see that it has struck five o'clock ,signalling the end of your shift .
You stretched out your back which had stiffened from bending over books all day . You love your job ,the peace and quiet and of course the hundreds of books at your disposal . You have had a love of reading for as long as you can remember . The small book shop that you work in has a comfy and inviting vibe to it . That's what first drew you to it .
You put the rest of the books in your hand on their designated shelf and walked to the back .
"Clocking out Margret , see you Monday "you told your manager before grabbing your bag and oat and setting off into the chilly autumn evening .
"Bye Nellie , have a good weekend . " She said while looking over some papers at her desk .
"You too ."
Exhausted after a long day you walked back to your rural house . Well every house in your town could be considered rural . It was one of those small towns in the outskirts of big cities . This one just happened to be in Louisiana.
You had lived here a few years back and had decided to move back only recently ,yearning for a feeling of home .
A small breeze ruffled your light brown hair and you wrapped your arms around yourself ,shying away from the cold .
You loved nature and so took your time on the twenty minute walk to your house . Listening to the ruffle of the leaves in the trees .
As soon as you reached the door you knew something was off . The energy around the house had changed . Cautiously, you took your keys out and unlocked the door . You put your bag and coat on the hook by the door and noticed a sliver of light coming from the crack underneath the closed door . The light in your living room was on and so you quietly walked towards the door .Now closer to the intruders you recognise a particular vibrant green energy . A smirk spread across you lips as you opened the door . There are four people sitting around your coffee table talking over something you couldn't see . You recognised Sam Wilson within seconds . The charismatic boy you baby sat many years again and now one of your longest friends . He is accompanied by a blond haired ,muscled man ,a slim red headed woman and another muscular black haired man .
"Hello people who do not live here " You state .
They all turn around to see you stood by the open door . Sam smiled as he stood up and ran towards you .
"Nell" He shouted excitedly .
"Hey Sammy , my gosh you've grown" you exclaimed as you hugged him back . You hadn't seen him in years .He was the only one to know about your powers . It was hard to hide when you hadn't aged in the twenty years in between baby sitting him and him getting back in contact .
He chuckled as he pulled away .
"Yeah that's what happens over two years ."he said like it was obvious . You huffed a laugh as you walked around him to introduce yourself to his friends . You extended your hand towards the closest.
"I'm Nellie ,lovely to meet you " You shook the blond mans hand . He had a firm handshake and a blueish energy surrounded him .
"I'm Steve Rogers , sorry to impose on you like this ."
"It's no imposition . Friends of Sammy are friends of mine ."
The other man stepped towards you and extended a gloved hand towards me .His energy was gold with darkness trying to cloud it . You could feel the pain and guilt radiating off of him . His body held two very different half of the same soul. The half causing him pain is too far away , hiding because it knows what you can do to it . You will need to keep an eye on his energy in case the other half decided to come back .
