"Alec!" Colin's pissed off voice was the first thing I heard when I woke up. Suddenly, his bedroom door slammed open, and he bursted through. Anger flashed over his beautiful face.
"Colin, what's wrong?" I asked. What'd changed in the few hours between when we made love in the middle of the night and now.
"Your fucking wife is downstairs. Get the fuck out of my bed, you piece of shit."
"Colin, it's not."
"I don't want to fucking hear it. I said go."
He threw my clothes at me, a rumpled mess. He didn't even wait for me to get dressed before he was storming out of the room. Scrambling into my clothes, I chased after him, half dressed. But I didn't care; I needed go get to him. I still had my shoes in my hand as I raced down the stairs. "Colin!" I shouted, but he was nowhere to be found.
"He's not here," Brenda said from behind the bar. She'd never spoken to me in such a harsh tone. Her words were simple, but there was venom behind them. Katerina was standing there, awkwardly.
"Alec," she said my name in her thick accent. "I thought you tell him."
"I was going to today. I wasn't expecting you so early. Things got heated last night, and I got distracted before I could tell him."
"Heated?" She asked. I nodded at her. "Bed?"
"Yes."
"I see."
"I'm glad you're here. You'll be safe here. I'll ask one of the girls to set you up in a room downstairs. I told Prez you were coming. Remember, we talked about him?"
"Yes."
"He knows what's going on. We've got church later. Are you hungry?"
"Please."
"Brenda, can I get another breakfast burrito for Katerina?"
"Who is she?"
"My wife."
"Fucking seriously, Bubbles?" She said.
"It's not what you think. It's club business and I'm sure Tank will update you after we have church this morning."
"I'll get her set up with a room, too," she said reluctantly.
Before I could disappear and make myself more presentable, I heard the loud laughter of the rest of the pride.
Fuck me.
Charlie, Rachel, and Liza all rolled in to the bar together, laughing. "Morning. How was last night?" Charlie asked, wiggling her eyebrows at me.
"Guys, this is Katerina. Bubbles's wife," Brenda said before I could make my escape.
"What!" Charlie screamed at me. "Your what? Bubbles. What the fuck?"
They were closing in on me and I was about to shit my pants. I'd seen each of them pissed off individually, and that was terrifying enough, but collectively, christ they were a pack of wild animals.
"Church!" Prez called, literally saving my balls. I squeezed past the pride, thankful for the interruption. I walked past Carrie, who was looking confused, having seen me sneaking away from the other old ladies.
"What was that about?" Bender asked. He looked happier than I'd ever seen him and was now sporting a black titanium wedding band on his finger.
"You'll know soon enough. But I may never leave this clubhouse again. Don't let them bury me in the back when they kill me. Burn me and spread my ashes on the road."
