She had sat so much that her ass hurt. Were no taxis at all going to come?

One had come earlier, gracing the dark wet pavement with it's moving lights like waxing and waning moons. But it ran past her just as quickly and scuttered away into the night.

"Great."

She would walk to the house. The sky may have been gently crying on her and her bags basically dragging down her limbs, but what other choice did she have?
It wasn't that long anyways.

Just as how all the best stories starts, this one starts with our main character moving into a new house. With pouring rain for added pathetic fallacy.

When the girl arrived, she took out her phone and called her brother, occasionally moving out of the way for the men to carry boxes into the house,
"Waihou!" She paused before calling her brother's name again.

"Yes, Yinnie?"
His voice sounded strained with lethargy.
"I'm at the house now. The driver cancelled on me so I had to walk but I'm fine now."
"Are you sure you still don't want me to come down at all?"
"No, no, it's fine, I'll be fine. Besides, you have another baby to look after."

The girl made reference to her older brother's second daughter, causing him to chuckle lowly.
"Alright, Yinnie, I'll talk to you tomorrow morning then, is that alright?"
"Yup, yeah, thanks gege."

She stuffed her phone away, turning to the house that was now hers. She took to the stairs to help with unloading boxes.

The house was once a holiday home - a holiday home that seven boys would go to every summer to spend time together. As they grew, things changed, it wasn't just them anymore. they made new connections - friends, girlfriends, boyfriends.

But now everything was really different. So different even God probably couldn't have predicted what had happened.

"Where do you want this again, miss?"
"Hmm, just in that room over there is fine."

The man with the box didn't seem to see the wire running taught across the floor as he tripped - the contents of the box spilling out.
"Oh my- I'm so sorry for that."
"It's fine, accidents happen."

The girl bent down to help him pick up the miscellaneous items, catching sight of the picture frame he had picked up. Her heart clenched.

"Who is this? In this photo? Is it your brother? You don't really look alike, the two of you."
"No, it's not my brother. It's my boyfriend." She wanted to snap at the man for being nosy and snatch away the frame but she didn't want to be rude - he didn't mean any harm.

"Oh! Is he coming to stay here with you too? I didn't notice his stuff with the boxes."
"He's dead."
"Oh."

The man sure as hell shut up after that. His mouth formed an 'o' shape and he left the room quickly: feeling embarrassed for asking too many questions.

She sighed. Her boyfriend. She missed him. They barely dated, barely had time to do anything at all - only a day. And then he was gone. Just like that.

There wasn’t single a day, hour, minute that went by that she didn’t think of him. everything around her whispered his name and sung his songs, especially in that damned house.

Each picture capturing his absolutely contagious smile; each table top that brushed her fingers as she walked past and she knew, she just knew his fingers had been in the exact same spot.

And his room, gosh, she wouldn't be able to go in there. No way in hell that she would enter, and see everything untouched as she requested.

It had taken her five years of mental preparation to get to this point and it was driving her insane. The loss of his presence was driving her insane.

But for now she had no time to think about how insane she was turning, as the night drew on into early daytime. If she didn't get any sleep - she wouldn't be able to unpack the next day.

Taking her blanket and a pillow - the girl went to go sleep downstairs on the sofa. It wasn't long before she fell fast asleep. The sofa wasn't that bad after all.
