Warning: Language, death,
Carmen and Sabrina flooded into the street and memorized the address from the article and headed only a few streets over to see the, "infamous" home in shambles; the flower beds were now flooded with trash bags that had been neglected to be thrown out. They approached the front door and looked at each other with conceded eyes. They knocked in unison, after a few moments a frail woman opened the door. She had a messy bun, a robe and bags accompanying her face.
"No, I don't want your cookies, or to revert to Christ" The woman said in an angered tone.
"Ma'am, we're not here for that, I personally knew your son, Harry, we think we might be able to help" Carmen explained in a gentle voice.
The woman's eyes lit up with hope.
"Really? You do?" The woman swept them inside and sat them down.
"Tea? Coffee? Water? Pick your poison" She insisted while staring at them both.
"I'm okay, thank you though" Sabrina said kindly.
Harry's mother had the feeling Carmen had felt the same.
"How did you know my son?" She asked.
"We went to high school together, I went to school with all of the victims, we were friends" Carmen's sight was flooded with tears.
Harry's mom began to do the same.
"What is your name?" Sabrina asked the woman.
"Sherry." Sherry said.
"Well, Sherry, we want to help, how can we?"
Sherry thought for a moment.
"The cops said it's too dangerous for them to stay at the crime scene for long periods of time, because it was so deep into the forest"
"What? That is ridiculous" Carmen was furious, what was the point of the police force if they weren't going to aid in finding who murdered four college students. Carmen's eyes lit up with an idea, what if she ventured into the forest? She wasn't going to let the slack of some undedicated police officers determine whether justice was sought.
"We can go" Carmen sat up. Sabrina pulled her back down.
"Well.. that's a big decision Carm"
The woman nodded, while clearly being disappointed.
"May I speak with you privately Carmen" Sabrina stood up and walked out onto the porch.
"Listen, I know you care, And I love that so much, But I don't know if we can do that"
"Do you not see how upset this woman is? And how upset and devastated the other families must be?" Sabrina responded.
"Yes, I do, and I'm sorry for what I am about to say, but I don't want to turn out like them, this is the literal beginning to a horror film" She said clearly upset now.
"There is still a murderer on the loose, we could be next"
Carmen nodded and sighed.
They walked back into the house and sat down on the couch.
As Carmen went to tell the woman that they could not in fact help her, Sabrina stood up and held the woman's hand.
"We will do it, for you, for your son and the other victims"
Carmen smiled and sighed in a pool of relief.
The woman stood up and hugged them both.
"Thank you, so much" Sherry thanked them and guided them outside.
