Izuku Midoriya blinked and shook his head, bringing himself back to reality, for his mind had begun to drift into unwanted memory territory... No need to dwell in the past, but instead focus on the future! He had a lot to do tonight and not a second to waste! He still had some unfinished business to attend to after all. Sure, he did have to keep his promise to the leaders of the afterlife, but there was no point in doing so if there was still a villain using his corpse as a flesh suit, so he had to take care of that sooner rather than later.
It felt so surreal though! Sure, the fact that he was no longer "one with the living" was a huge bombshell, but he had more important things to worry about, like his new job as a Spirit!
The rules were quite simple. (Well, not as much as rules as there were GUIDELINES, because Spirits can do whatever they please really, but phrasing it as rules gave Izuku a bit more control over his afterlife.) Again, the rules were simple. Help humans, help souls, and eradicate threats. Also, TRY your best not to be recognised, because you're dead, and it's preferable that it legally stays that way... But you know, you could if you really wanted to, because nobody really is stopping you from doing so... Seems easy squeasy right? Plus, it's not like he would be ALONE while doing his deeds...
Apparently, all Spirits had guides, who were small shapeshifting companions linked to the spirit's souls. They know as much as the Spirit they are linked to, so it's not much of a problem when it comes to teamwork. Izuku personally adored his guide, which he named Popi for the time being. She was about the size of a stuffed animal and had the shape of one of those ghosts from the old pre-quirk game: Pacman. She also had green eyes, just like him! But, that was besides the point and he was only getting ahead of himself. What he REALLY needed to do right now was find the sludge villain that was currently inhabiting his dead body. That was top priority as of now.
(Though he did find it morbidly interesting that the villain had found a way to enter his cranium through the remnants of sludge in his lungs and override his motor systems therefore giving the villain full control of his corpse, while the rest of his sludge body is in jail. Izuku vaguely wondered if it hurt to have two parts of your body in different places at once and still have control over both of them... Again, beside the point.)
Izuku let out the unneeded breath of cold air he had been holding in as he drifted/paced aimlessly inside the abandoned warehouse he was currently inhabiting as of now. If he was going to settle his death once and for all, he first needed to locate his body, and for all he knew, the villain could be halfway across the country by now! Nevertheless, Izuku was determined to find his body and settle his death once and for all. The idea of his mother thinking he was still alive and kicking sickened him to his core. Sure, it would still hurt that he was, in fact, dead, but she didn't need that kind of false hope.
"Meh?" Popi let out a small unintelligible noise to get his attention, nudging at his shoulder for good measure. Right. Probably would be best for him NOT to monologue as a villain is running rampant with his body. He flashed one of his brighter than the sun smiles at the small floating ghost companion and rubbed his pale translucent hands together..
"I guess we should get down to business, huh Pop? Would you mind transforming into a Map of Mufastu and all surrounding prefectures for me please?"
The small pink creature blinked two times as yes in response, and Izuku watched with fascination as she shifted and molded herself into a large detailed map of his home. Not wanting to waste anymore time, he quickly smoothed out Popi/Map on the wall. He then began to smile to himself. But this smile was not like his usual happy go lucky not a care in the world smile. It was a much sharper, more sinister smile. Him being dead and translucent made it all the more chilling.
