Chapter Three
Adele's P.O.V
Oh shit I thought as I turned the faucet back on. Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit.
My mind keeps repeating the same two words, like a broken record, as I splash cold water on my face. Besides the slightly swollen lip, there was no sign of the beat down I just received. Sometimes, I thank God I don't bruise or swell, sometimes I curse him. Taking advantage of my "superhuman" speed, I bolt out of the bathroom and appear next to my mother. My appearance is so sudden it causes her to jump in surprise, while Levi sends me a peculiar glance.
"Adele," my mother greets with a sickly sweet smile and ice cold eyes, "these two young men say they're friends of yours?"
The inquiry was more of an accusation, as she"lovingly" takes my hand in hers, and squeezes it tightly.
"Are you okay," Lucas asks, his eyes running over me, nothing but worry filling them.
"Ye-..." I catch myself. I almost reply to him, all because something inside makes me want to ease his worries. I want to remove those wrinkles in his forehead, due to his furrowed brows. The urge to make those navy blue eyes return to their normal silver, is equally overwhelming.
When the hell did I take notice to his eyes.
"What was that, dear?" My mother questions, her hazel eyes hardening as she squeezes my hand tighter.
"Yeah, no... I don't know them," I gulp looking at her with honest eyes. It's true I don't know them. In fact, I'm a little terrified as to how they found me.
"Sorry boys, wrong high yellow mutt, though there are a lot of those here in, Colorado," she grins, before moving to slam the door in their face.
"Sorry," Levi growls, catching the door, " but we're positive we have the right one." His once brown eyes now black, glare menacingly at my mother. I stumble back in fear, as my mother's grip slacken.
"Now, now Adele, don't lie to us," he scolds, as his black eyes shift to me, "we can smell your blood. I know personally, that you are not alright."
I gasp, as my throat constricts in fear. His voice was no longer his own. It was deeper and gruffer.
And sexy as hell My deeper thoughts whisper.
And a tad bit sexier, but that is besides the point, I snap back.
"Y-you need to leave!" I demand, moving to push the door. Tears begin to fall from my eyes as I think of how this demonic man is going to chop up my mother and I, then feed us to Satan, as some sick sacrifice.
"We're not gonna hurt you," Lucas amends, or at least attempts to.
"Not you, just the bitch that dares to hurt you," Levi snarls.
Finally snapping out of her shock, my mom begins to assist me in pushing the door closed but we're overwhelmed.
"Mom?" I hear my younger sister, Amelia, whisper. She stands at the end of the hall with wide eyes, and my mother ditches me to grab her.
She's safer than I am! If that idiot hadn't come out of the room and been the nosy little rat she is... That inner thought growled.
Whoa Whoa, breath... I tell myself, just as I'm engulfed by a warm embrace. Warmth and tranquility wash over me and I nearly melt into the hug, but quickly snap out of it.
"GET OFF OF ME!" I sob, fear reaching my bones and causing them to rattle, once I push him off.
Lucas frowns at me, as Levi moves to get by. Quickly I shuffle in front of him, a slight hobble to my movements due to the injuries I've received.
