Lan Wangji stiffened when Wei Wuxian embraced him. And then Wei Wuxian said all those things... Lan Wangji felt as if he was stabbed. But he didn't show it. He remained aloof. But when Wei Wuxian addressed him as 'Second Master Lan', something broke inside him. He clutched his sword harder. His knuckles turned red.
When Wei Wuxian was about to step out of the hall, he couldn't help it any longer so he cried out,
       "Wei Ying....!"

Wei Wuxian had tears in his eyes. How could he not when he himself had handed over the ribbon to Lan Wangji? But still, this time, he didn't let the tears flow down his cheeks. He controlled it.
Wei Wuxian was about to step out of the ancestral hall when he heard a familiar name from the familiar voice. 'Lan Zhan...'
No matter where he was, what time it was, with whom he was,... Whenever he heard that particular voice call out for him, he would rapidly turn his head towards the source of the voice. And this time too, it was no exception.

Wei Wuxian turned towards Lan Wangji,
"L.." he stopped. 'What am I doing? Lan Zhan and I... We are over. OVER!
Wei Wuxian looked at Lan Wangji, the same man who had called him, 'Young Master Wei' just a few minutes ago.
Deep down, Wei Wuxian wanted to go and hug Lan Wangji and take those hurt that could be clearly seen on the other's eyes. But no, he thought, 'I no longer have that right...'
Of all the things he could do then, he chose to do the hardest. Which was none other than..... Smiling.
All around the cultivational world, Wei Wuxian was known for joy. The first image that people get with the mention of his name was... A face with happiness written all over. But now.. it was so hard. Wei Wuxian never knew that smiling could be this hard. It ached so much that he wanted to cry. His eyes stung. His lips trembled. How could it be? He wondered.
With the smile given, Wei Wuxian turned around, took a deep breath and left.

Left the person he held dear to his heart. Left the people whom he thought was his family and friends. Left the the cultivational world which he thought was righteous. Left everything and took nothing. And within few minutes, he left from out of their sight.

Lan Wangji watched the person he loved, go. What else could he do? He brought this upon himself. He hated that person since last week and until few minutes ago. But listening to those words.... broke something inside him. He felt shattered.
Lan Wangji looked at the head that lay on the floor, bloody. He instantly closed his eyes. 'Where did we go wrong, Lan Zhan?' Wei Wuxian's words rang in his ears.                                  Without giving any attention to those sect leaders and their disciples, Lan Wangji gave a quick bow to his uncle, the Lan clan elders and one last bow to his mo...
to Cangse Sanren and left.

Lan Wangji stood in front of the Jingshi, staring. Jingshi had been his mother's home. Everytime he come here, laughter could be heard. But now, it was so quiet.
Lan Wangji had always liked silence. But this silence wasn't one of them. No matter how much he wished his surrounding to be silent, his mother's and Wei Ying's laughter were exception. He loved those little giggles and laughes. But now... Not only did he lose his mother's but Wei Ying's too....

In Gusu, many people from different sects had come for the funeral of Madam Lan. After it was over, they had stayed to witness the execution of the murderer. And now that everything was done, they didn't have any reason to stay any longer. Not that they wanted too. But among them, a certain individual had been very enthusiastic these last few days. It just that no one could see it. And now that they were returning back, none would be more happier than him. It was as if he had been longing for this.
