Meeting Him

My 16 year old granddaughter just came crying in my room about some guy that broke her heart, she claimed he was her lover and that she'll never find someone like him. She was completely wrong. I hugged her and whispered into her ear 'you deserve someone better, someone that was as amazing as your grandfather'. She suddenly got interested and told me that I've never told her about the story between me and her grandfather, Joseph. I hesitated for a bit. But just started.

It was 1986. I was only 17 years old, I had brown silky hair that reached my waist. I was thin, had blue eyes and wore braces. My friend, Jessica, and I went to this cafe that we always go to. No one in our school really knew the place, which is why we loved it. We could get our peace and quiet and relax from the drama that happens in school. Jessica was a blonde, cheerful and thin girl. She was at average height and has an amazing boyfriend that loved her deeply. He never came with us here though, because we just wanted our time together. Well, at least that's what I thought.
We were sitting in the cafe drinking our hot chocolate, until a tall, masculine, blonde, green-eyed boy came inside. It was Jessica's boyfriend, Tom. I asked what he was doing here and she claimed to invite him, I was mad at first but then an even hotter, fitter version of her boyfriend came in with brown hair and brown eyes. My heart was racing.
He walked in and sat with me, Jessica and Tom. He introduced himself and so did I. And we spoke, we got to know things about each other. We had so much in common. And before I knew it it was time to go home. We said our goodbyes and then went home. I didn't get his number, nor any information. All I knew was that his name happened to be Joseph..

After the day in the cafe, I started to love seeing Jessica's boyfriend just to ask about Joseph. Tom said he flew to Canada for a while then, as he's originally Canadian. But not to worry, he came back. I didn't contact him or see him for about 3 weeks until he came to the cafe again. He asked for me and then sat down.

We started talking about everything, and then he asked me what I'm doing at night. Told him I had no plans and simply just went 'great, I'll pick you up at 7'. I didn't know wether to be happy or angry at how rude his invitation was. But I didn't really care then, because I was so happy.
