It was early in the afternoon, the four girls were standing stiffly in front of their instructor, waiting for the next order. In Eden they are expected to follow all the rules perfectly with no exceptions.
Created by God himself the four girls were named Olivia Hye, Yves, Gowon, and lastly Chuu. Each girl’s personality was based on an animal: Wolf, Swan, Butterfly, and a Penguin.
At the beginning the girls were close but overtime their close bond began to dissolve into something lesser. In time the girls came to agree that Olivia had an odd aura about her, as if something dark had gotten to her.
Yves was seen as a beacon of light shining brightly to offset Olivia’s darkness. Perhaps it was her personality, the Swan being a sign of innocence and the Wolf being a predator.
“You may be dismissed.” The instructor had said. “Be sure to study and remember the rules. No one is to leave this building; dangers lurk in the surrounding forest.” The woman growled in a demanding tone.
The girls were supposed to go to their private study room, but Yves had another plan in mind. She silently slipped away and took off her shoes leaving them at the gate.
She wandered off campus into the dark forest. Deep into the forest she found an apple on a tree, it seemed to call out to her. Before she knew it, she had taken a bite of it. Suddenly multiple emotions and thoughts came rushing into her mind. Yves could now see the world so clear, as if the smog of Eden that once clouded her mind had dissipated. The girl had come to a decision, Eden was no longer a home to her, it was a cage, a cage she desired to be free of. When she had the chance, she would escape and save her friends if they would let her.
Yves snuck back onto campus, took off her socks and put on her shoes once more. When she got back into her room, she threw her socks next to her bed hoping the instructor would not notice. As the sun fell, the instructor arrived for nightly inspections and noticed the dirt covered socks.
“Who went outside!” She shouted. “I strictly told you to not leave this building, and what do you do? Disobey my orders like a bratty child!”
“It was me ma’am.” Yves stated honestly with her head hung low not wanting to get her friends in trouble.
“What are you a fool? You know better than to disobey me!” The instructor yelled before becoming disappointed. Yves was one of her favorite students, so she gave her a warning. “For being honest I won’t punish you, but if this happens again there will be consequences mark my words!” She said before walking away.
Once the instructor had left Gowon and Chuu rushed to Yves questioning where she had gone. Olivia sat in the corner spectating in silence, she didn't appear the least bit intrigued by the tale but in secret she had been watching everything unfold.
Yves had told the two about the forest and the next day she brought them to the apple. The two girls curious as to what emotions as Yves had described would feel like bit into the apple without question. The girls felt the same spiritual release Yves had felt, they were enlightened with views of self-love and prosperity.
Gowon decided to follow Yves every step as was grateful for her, she had shown her how to love herself. Chuu on the other hand had contained an undying love for Yves and watched her every movement trying to mimic it to get closer to her.
Every day from then on Yves, Gowon, and Chuu would gather into a group and have hushed conversations avoiding Olivia and the instructor. With each period of time, they were left alone they would sneak out of the school into the dark forest planning their route of escape.
The reason as to why the girl’s avoided Olivia was unknown, perhaps because she followed every order, or maybe it was that dark aura she possessed.
One day Olivia was standing on the balcony of the building and peered down at the gate. She saw Yves, Gowon, and Chuu running away happily only this time their shoes didn't come off at the gate. No, this time the girls would not be returning to Eden.
As they disappeared Gowon looked up at Olivia before turning and running towards the others, never to be seen again by Olivia or the instructor.
Leaving Eden and its rules behind. Olivia was left alone with just the instructor, and over time began to feel a burning hatred. She decided she would break free from the shackles that bound her to Eden and find what she had lost. She would find love; she would find her family.
