It was another cold windy day in the wooden cabin.

How long have I been there? I don't know but it was long enough for me to call it home.

The crackling of the fire soothed me down and it felt as if all my fears disappeared.

I was getting used to this life. Waking up every morning at 5am for a jog at the hillside to help me freshen up, coming back with my face all frozen due to the extremely cold morning breeze, taking a warm relaxing shower, getting all dressed up in my normal civilian's outfit and heading out to try gather information on the infamous gang, Minotaur. They've been ravaging the undergrounds for the past year while eliminating their competitors, torturing any Judas they might have and making millions of dollars. They do crimes for all the big fish of NYC while those executives lounge in their top floor offices; I can assure you that most companies have had something to do with them. Every crime there is in New York has their fingerprints on it yet it's been impossible for me to get even the slightest bit of important information from them despite being a professional spy. The only information I've gotten over the past year was the name of the organization's leader. Levi Ackermann. Though that be but a mere pseudonym.

Today was another failed attempt. At this point I don't even feel like a spy... The organization I work under, Cyclops, are sending in another spy for backup on this mission. But why am I complaining? My boss worked 7 years undercover before his mission was even halfway complete but, unlike him, I'm so goddamn impatient.

'Ugh' I groaned as I started into the sunset. I wondered why I have to live in this cabin before remembering that it's the safest place for me if I'm going to handle such a perilous organization.

'I need a break' I said as I got up and went outside to catch some free air. Slowly as I was gazing at the mesmerizing sunset, I started to recall forgotten memories of my past. 'Hm' I thought, 'when was the last time I even thought about my childhood?' Most adults would tell you of some of the most fun experiences but for me, all I really ever had in my life was him..

My thoughts were interrupted by the buzzing of my phone. It was Jean.

'What do you want horseface?' I asked with an annoyed tone. 'Is it so wrong to call my colleague to share some wonderful news?' He might've said that through the phone but I was pretty sure he had that huge smirk on his face.

'No I'm good thank you'

'Don't be such a debbie-downer. Well anyways, here it is, the news of who your new partner in crime will be. Drumroll.....'

'Just say it already'

'Da-da-da-da-da. It's....... Eren Yeager! A round of applause everyone'

I let out a small laugh, 'haha so funny Jean well anyways thanks for the news'

'You're not even excited to hear that you'll be working with the best spy around?'

'Hmm not really'

'Damn life out there must be tough then huh?

'It's lonely I guess but I'm used to it now'

'You know maybe I could ask if I can help with your mission too. Wouldn't it be fun?'

'Pfft of course not. You'd just be a nuisance.' I said with a laugh.

'Well we'll see' I started hearing some loud background noise like someone yelling.

'Ugh it's boss. He doesn't want me chatting with you right now... there's been someone embezzling the funds here and boss is being stressed a lot by the executives so he's moody as fuck'.

I laughed. 'Guess that even after an year that guy really doesn't change'

'Yep! Well anyways I have to hang up or I'll get my throat sliced uh so Eren will be there by next week and ... yea yea I'm almost done sir... uh I'll call you later YN bye'. He rapidly hang up.

'Even though he's stupid as hell he always lightens up my day'. Jean was one of the first people I met back when I was a recruit and since then he'd always just hang around my introverted self, I guess you can say we're best friends now but it's been so long since I've seen him.

'I don't think I'd mind him joining the mission I think'

'What am I saying? It'd be troublesome having to share a dangerous mission with your friend so it's not a good idea. Stop being so dumb me!'

And plus I already have someone who'll be helping me with my mission. Eren, as I've heard is one of the best spies in Cyclops, if not, the best. He's aced all his missions and in a short amount of time too. Actually his family produces some of the best spies for Cyclops; even his dad was the crème de la crème.

'Well then' I said as the I watched the few remaining beams of light vanish and as the velvety dark sky conjured slowly, 'I wonder if things will more interesting once he arrives'.

I smiled while imagining that after all these months of loneliness, I'd finally have some company.
