Preface

Three men slowly trekked through the roaring blizzard and endless snow; they could hardly see their own feet, let alone the village in which they were headed. God, alone, knew whether they were walking in the right direction, although, by now, they should know their way home. From a few miles away, a pack of wolves howled into the evening moon.

The men stopped. Ahead of them, a set of three footsteps led around to the side. Had they just walked in a full circle? Or was it just another family gotten lost in the fierce storm? They supposed that they’d never know.

One of the men sensed eyes peering into the back of his neck. He turned, but the blizzard concealed everything.
