Hi, I’m Allisha. The working scholar-mommy.

Yes, my daughters and I all have locs; please don’t call them dreads.

Yes, I work everyday during the week. I love what I do.

Oh, you’ve noticed that I’m with my children EVERY  weekend. We have so much fun together.

You admire that I take the girls to the zoo and museum? Thank you, they love those places.

You want my take on going to school as 30 year old? It’s never too late to chase your dreams, if you ask me.

You don’t know how I do it all? Oh it’s easy once you find the right balance.

You love my smile? Thank you so much.

Hi, I’m Allisha, the working scholar-mommy.

I don’t know how to do hair, so I chose locs for us all. Can’t tell people that.

I can only work when the girls are in school because I can’t afford childcare. Can’t tell people that.

I crave a childless weekend, but I can’t tell people.

My job doesn’t pay enough for my children to enjoy most things and museums have free days. I can’t tell people that.

Going to school after 30 is another job and even more stress…can’t tell people that.

I haven’t found that balance, there are moments where I feel like I’m drowning. Can’t tell people that.

It’s easy to smile for you, because I cry in the shower, I refuse to tell people that.
