|Ever wondered how Ladybug and Chat Noir's last patrol would be like? This is how I'd think it'd go.|
"Hey kitty?" Marinette called, trying not to let her emotions overwhelm her. Adrien hummed, already having an idea of what's coming.
"I'm going to do it." She sighed, looking at anywhere but his piercing eyes. "Do what?"
"C'mon," Marinette paused, "don't make me say it."Adrien bit his lip, feeling a mix of scared and nervousness. He slowly walked up to her, taking her hands into his. They felt cold.
He pulled Marinette into a hug, knowing she needed it. Resting his chin on her shoulders, he whispered, "One last time. Please?"
"Yeah, yeah." It came out in a low husky voice, and Adrien's heart tore straight down the middle.
"Tikki! Spots on!"
"Plagg! Claws out!"
There stood the unbeatable duo, that's been through the best and worst times together. It hurt to know it was their last. "Shall we M'lady?" He offered his hand playfully. Which Ladybug was more than happy to take. "Always Chaton."
They flew over the roofs, bantering and playing like in their teens. When Hawkmoth was still around, when identities were a mystery, and when there were still many years ahead of them.
"Oh stop it!" Ladybug waved as Chat was awkwardly dancing for the pedestrians on the street. Everyone cheered and clapped and she did too. Eyeing him fondly.
"Let's go to our special spot." He winked mischievously as the sun began to set.
Ladybug gave a small smile and followed behind slowly.
"Aww come on Bugaboo!" Chat laughed, "You're losing the race!"
"No one ever said it was a race!" She shouted back, pouting. "Weren't you listening? I just did!" He grinned his Cheshire grin, the one thing Ladybug hoped she'd remember.
They arrived at the rooftop. Ladybug winning of course. This rooftop where he'd taken Marinette the night Ladybug had stood him up. It's then became known as their "special spot."
Sitting on the edge, feet dangling off. The silence was comfortable. Just knowing they were both Ladybug and Chat Noir at the moment as a blessing neither of them had appreciated as much as now.
"Ya know? When I first met you, I thought that you'd be an idiot who couldn't stop making dumb jokes." Ladybug stated, staring at the stars. "But not anymore right?" Chat prompted, ears dropping at her response.
"Wrong." She smiled, "You are totally that idiot."
"What a great way to end things, Bugababe." Chat grinned, knowing I found that nickname cringe.
She threw him and award-winning deadpan. "But in all seriousness, I'll miss you, a lot."
It was painful to smile, it was painful to be happy. So they didn't. This a rare moment when these 2 were actually serious.
He leaned against her, heart lurching, "I'll still be here. Promise."
Tears suddenly trickled down her mask and onto her cheeks at the words. "But I'll miss this! So, so, so much."
Chat sat up straight, now tucking Ladybug's head into the crook of his neck, gently caressing her hair in small downward strokes. "Please don't cry! If you miss it, just look at the stars. It'll remind you of tonight."
Even though they both knew it wouldn't work, she nodded sadly anyways. "I love you, Ladybug." Pausing to give a chaste kiss onto her hair. "More than you'll ever know."
"Sorry I won't be here with you. To share the painful memories. Sorry to burden you with them."
Locking eyes, Chat pressing their foreheads together, "I'd go through it a hundred times to do this with you, so don't apologize. I'll still be yours."
"Thank you, thank you so much Chat."
They stayed like that for a few more hours, laughing and joke about their adventures. From Stoneheart to now, it was all in the past.
"I think it's time to go now." Ladybug pushed herself up and Chat did the same. "Yeah, tomorrow will be an important day won't it?"
She only nodded, heart dropping all the way to her stomach. As hard as it was to forget everything, at least it didn't happen to Adrien. At least he'd still remember.
