It took nearly a month for the doctors to rule Izuna safe to returning to his home, albeit he had been offered another house outside the Uchiha Compound, but he had vehemently refused. His parents might be dead, and he might suffer from nightmares and stress from just staring at certain items...

But he refused to allow his weaknesses to dictate how he lived his life. Speaking of life, after talking with certain people, he was given a monthly allowance and would have someone check up on him every week just in case he couldn't take care of himself, a genuine concern - is what he'd have thought if he hadn't learned what man Lord Third was these last few weeks.

It is of no surprise to him that Orochimaru had been allowed to leave the village alive and healthy, and why he had turned out the way he had. A passive man prone to violent acts when thrown in dire circumstances, that was what Hiruzen Sarutobi embodied in his eyes.

His decision-making history was proof of it, and it didn't take an adult to connect the dots so many refused to even take notice of.

Uzushiogakure? An ally of Konoha since it's foundation, abandoned and possibly betrayed.

The Senju Clan? A renowed clan of warriors who had fought the Uchiha for centuries, disbanded.

The Uzumaki Clan? Destroyed and chased all around the Elemental Nations with only remnants surviving there and here, and somehow Konoha had acquired another of them before their destruction.

And now, the Uchiha Clan? Reduced to a pitiable amount of 4 - Izuna counted the masked man, Itachi and the kinslayer's younger brother called Sasuke in his group. He'd have to reach out to the man sooner or later, for he knew he was broken mentally, much more than him.

He'd heard rumors while in the hospital from gossiping nurses who wouldn't know any better, of the atrocities he'd witnessed.

Izuna had been outside the compound at the time of the massacre, Sasuke had seen it happen with his own naked eyes, and had been spared for god knows what reason.

So, imagine his surprise when the first thing he sees at the entrance of the Clan Compound, was a tiny onyx-haired kid slightly shorter than him marched straight ahead and looked up at him in the eyes with a resolute glare.

"You. Me. Last of the clan, I will not stand for not knowing the last person who carries the same blood as I whilst we still live in the same place!"

"That's rather specific, have you disowned your brother based on what he did?" He knew he shouldn't be tempting fate like this, but he didnt appreciate someone shoving their words at him when he just wanted a good night of sleep at home.

Sasuke flinched, wrinkles forming near his nose in anger which he somehow suppressed.

"He's no brother of mine, I swore an oath that I will see his cold corpse in front of me when I'm done with him, and I assure you that revenge will come to use in one way or another!"

Izuna sighed and shook his head. " The issue remains, dearest cousin, that neither me and nor you have the strength to oppose Itachi Fucking Uchiha or any of his companions, not now, and not in the near future."

This earned him a raise of an eyebrow.

"You don't know? I was attacked by your brother's "partner in crime", I don't know how I survived but I did, and I don't plan to testing my luck with people of dangerous levels like them anytime soon cousin."

Sasuke frowned and seethed. "Fine, I was only here to tell you that I will take revenge one way or another and that we will have to do together, as the last of our clan."

There was only so much ignorance Izuna could take oozing from a person before he'd give up. His cousin had reached the maximum bar of it.

'Nothing I can't deal with after a good night worth of sleep.'
