Scene 2
INT. Alex's Apartment
"Bradley?", Alex says with a confused look on her face. "What are you doing here?".
"I... I just...", Bradley suddenly realizes she doesn't have the answer to that question. What was she doing standing on Alex's doorstep, exactly?
"Is everything alright?", her co-host asks, before eventually noticing the tears falling from her eyes. "C'mon, let's get you inside".
Alex takes her co-host's hand, leading her into the elevator that will be taking them to the top floor.
-
"I'll take your coat", Alex says, as they step into her apartment.
Bradley only manages to let out a quiet; "thank you", as her on-air partner trails off to the kitchen.
"Do you want some wine?", Alex asks before turning around. "Who are we kidding? Look at you, of course you want wine".
-
"Now, tell me...", Alex begins, while positioning herself in a more comfortable position on her clearly uncomfortable couch. "To what do I owe the pleasure of having a tear jerked Bradley Jackson show up at my doorstep?", she asks.
"Well...", Bradley begins as she reaches for her wine glass, which she downs within seconds in an attempt to build up some audacity.
It certainly takes a whole lot of audacity for Bradley to confess to her co-host, that's she's been fucking what seems like her worst nemesis, behind her back.
"To be honest with you I don't even know what I'm doing here", she eventually says. "You're probably the last person I should be comin' to bout' this".
"Why is that?", Alex asks naively. "You know you can come to me with anything".
"Really?", the shorter blonde asks, even though she knows that's not true. "Really", Alex claims.
"Mhm", Bradley murmurs.
"Is it your mother?", Alex asks as her co-host is taking too long.
"No, no...", the shorter blonde replies. "Your brother? Is it him?", the tall blonde asks again. "It's not bout' my brother".
"It's... you won't like it", Bradley states, just to haul out the time, knowing the two on-air partner's soon will explode into the worst fight they've ever had.
But that's what she came for, right?
"C'mon, take the kids gloves off. What is it?", an impatient Alex demands, now with a more firm voice.
"Listen, I've been seeing Laura...", Bradley eventually reveals.
The shorter blonde pays close attention to her co-host facial expressions, noticing how she's starting to get worked up.
Which is exactly what she wanted.
"Laura? Laura Peterson?!", Alex asks. "Yeah", Bradley replies.
Alex reaches for her glass, as she's now the one downing the rest of her wine. "You've been meeting up with her after Iowa?", she asks again.
"I have", the shorter blonde replies with confidence.
The tall blonde scuffs. "So, you're friends now".
"Well...", Bradley begins.
"Or you were... considering you're here right now".
"Alex...".
"So, what did she do to you?".
"Excuse me?", the shorter blonde says, offended on Laura's behalf at her co-host's sudden accusation. "Alex, she didn't do anything, ok?".
"Then why are you sitting on my couch looking like someone just ran over your dog?".
"I'm serious, Alex... she's not been invasive, not asked me any inappropriate questions... you don't know what you're talking about".
"I don't know what I'm talking about?", Alex repeats her co-host's words. "Look, Laura is not the person you paint her out to be.", Bradley declares, still finding her co-host's hatred towards Laura unjustified.
Alex gives her on-air partner a cold look, not liking where this is headed. "How come you're so certain about that?", she asks, not so naively this time.
"Because...", the shorter blonde takes a deep breath, knowing what she's about to reveal is bound to make the tall blonde explode.
"Wait, wait... wait", Alex begins. "When you say you've been seeing her...".
However, it seems like her co-host, with the help of her journalistic instincts, has beaten her to it.
