The next day Eva woke up early without a complaint in sight. The air felt clearer and so did her mind. She got up and got dressed for her day of learning.
Eva said good morning to everyone she passed and with a sweet smile on her face apologized to the teachers that she ignored yesterday. No doubt receiving some confused stares but nothing could have dampened her mood that morning. She noticed Parkinson and the older Greengrass walking ahead but decided against walking with them.
As she entered the Hall the staring eyes multiplied. Everyone and their teachers waiting, almost expecting an outburst, but were left waiting.
The brunette walked calmly to her table, not making eye contact with anyone in particular and sat. The tension in the room thickened when she smiled almost angelically at Theo and asked him to pass her the jug of Pumpkin juice. I mean she did so with such kindness you would have never known she owned little or any anger towards him the day prior.
All seemed well and almost unreal until a certain male blonde sparked conversation.
Draco's pov:
"So are we all pretending like yesterday didn't happen? Because if we are I'd personally like to congratulate you, Evie, for being right up there with the famous actors of the world." I dislike being the icebreaker in these situations but with the way Rosse is acting I wouldn't be surprised if she was secretly planning Nott's murder.
"Oh don't be absurd Draco, there is nothing wrong with me. I am not acting for anyone about anything."
"Whatever you say love." I muttered under my breath taking a bite out of my toast.
"Are you sure you're good Ro?" Parkinson steps in feeling Evie's forehead for emphasis.
"Oh give it a rest the lot of you," Blaise says, finally joining the conversation. "If the woman says she's fine then leave her be. It is too early to be playing Mr and Ms Investigator."
"Thank you Blaise!"
"No problem, mi amor." He smirked at me earning him a kick in the shin, slightly shaking the table.
Eva's pov:
I felt the table shake and smiled at Blaise apologetically on Draco's behalf knowing that his acts of violence tend to leave bruises. I took a sip from my goblet ignoring everyone's pressuring gazes, I've never been one to bend under pressure so all this staring isn't doing anyone any good.
"So Parky do you have any plans for today?" I asked pushing my robe into my bag, shrinking it to fit in my shirt pocket and rolled up my sleeves.
"Yes actually, I think we all do." She stared at me knowingly.
"Oh yeah?" I replied not following.
"Yeah some of us have classes, wait never mind we all have classes you included!"
"Oh, yeah no, I'm not doing school today I don't really feel like it." Draco gave me a cheeky smirk with a raised eyebrow, "No Blondie I'm not skiving, its only skiving if its without permission. After yesterday's stunt my teachers for today were more than happy to let me have the day off."
"Well little Miss Temper some of us have double potions to get to, you going to walk with us or go scare your teachers into giving you the week off?" Blaise mocked picking up his bag and robes.
"Well since you asked nicely I guess I can free up my timetable to drop youse off at class." I smirked holding both my arms out like a mother holding her hands out for her children. They walked past my open arms, Draco muttering a 'you wish' and Pansy a 'move you whale'.
