𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐋AYLA'𝐒 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐓𝐎𝐋𝐃 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐖𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐁𝐄 moving to a small town, Beacon Hills, Layla's first thought was where the place was because she has never heard of it. She didn't even know her parents grew up here, which was something they never told, so it was a surprise to her when they informed her while they were driving towards their new house. They had taken the girls to a restaurant first, and now they're taking them to their new home.

Layla tried not to think too deeply into it. There had to be a reason why they never told her, and she was sure they would tell her eventually. She just hopes it isn't too bad.

Layla's gaze was on the scenery while her mother was trying to get Thea's attention. Thea was in her Junior year of high school, and she was the most upset when they suddenly had to move. Layla was happy to leave everything behind. She didn't mind at all.

But it did seem a bit sudden for them. Her father told them it was because he had gotten a better job offer near Beacon Hills at a law firm, but she didn't believe it. Her father had been at his law firm for ten years, and not once did he think of leaving it. Their move felt too sudden to her.

"Layla, the Beacon Hills Preserve is right there. That's where your father and his friends used to hang out."

Layla looks into the forest, actually interested. This is the first time she's been here, so she might as well take everything in. "Mom, I'm pretty sure Lay couldn't care less about where dad's hangout spots was."

"I'm just telling her, Thea."

"It's also the place where your mother and I had our first kiss," Layla's father Thomas says, which made Thea cringe and Layla frown. "Too much information. We didn't need to know that."

Thomas smiles into the rearview mirror just as it starts to rain. "I was hoping to get to the restaurant before it rains," Thea says, frustrated as it suddenly starts to pour.

Layla looks out in front when a figure appears in the middle of the road. "Dad! Watch out!"
He immediately swerves out of the way to avoid hitting the person. Her eyes widen just when her father stops the car.
She looks back to see if the person was okay.
Layla grabs the handle of the door before she opens it, climbing out the car and into the rain.

"Layla!"
The redhead ignores her parents' calls.

"Layla, get into the car!" Thomas yells, getting out of the car.

She runs over to where the person was. Layla frowns, wondering how quickly that person got away. She looks around before her eyes falls on the muddy footprints that leads in to the forest.

"Layla! Get back here!"

Before Layla could follow the footprints, her mother grabs onto her arm. She looks at the woman who has an umbrella over her. "Layla, come, let's go now."

"Wait, Mom. What if that person's hurt?"

"If they had been hurt, they would have been here, but they're not. Let's go now," the woman says, grabbing onto her daughter's arm before she leads her back to the car.

"You shouldn't have run out of the car, Layla!"

The girl bites her lip, mumbling an apology to her dad. She just wanted to make sure the person didn't get hurt.
She climbs into the car, and Thea rolls her eyes. "Are you really that stupid?" Thea questions her. Layla rolls her eyes.

"Whatever."

Thomas starts the car before they drive off again.

They had made it back to the house and luckily, when they got home it didn't rain as much.
"Layla, your room is the one upstairs at the back, and Thea yours is near the stairs."

Layla stares at the interior of the house as Thea walks up the stairs, her headphones on her ears. It was bigger than she expected it to be. Their house in Michigan was way smaller.
She follows Thea up the stairs. The first door near the stairs was Thea's.

The girl immediately closed the door after she walks in, preventing Layla from seeing her room. The redhead rolls her eyes. Thea is still bitter about the fact that we moved. She left her whole life behind to move to a place that nobody knows of.

Layla walks down the hall to her room. She opens the door to the room. All her stuff had already been packed out. When their mother told them, there wasn't any need for any unpacking, she really meant it. Did she unpack everyone's things?

The girl walks over to the bed, and she sits down on it. "Do you like your new room?"

Layla looks over at her mother, Nina, standing at the door. "Yeah, I do. It is a lot better than my room back home. . . I mean Michigan," Layla corrects herself. She has to remember that this was her new home. She wasn't going to see Michigan any time soon.

"I thought so. You always talked about wanting purple wallpaper, so I asked the interior designer to do with for you," Nina tells her as she walks over to the bed to sot down beside her. She had hired an interior designer to do the whole house and the woman did a fantastic job.

"I'm glad you like it because it seems your sister hates her room."

"Don't mind her mom. She is just upset that we had moved. She'll get over it," Layla tells the woman. "We did tell you guys we would one day move."

"Yeah, but I'm pretty sure Thea didn't expect it to be so soon. She was in the middle of her Junior year, and she had to leave her friends and boyfriend."

Nina sighs nodding. "I'm happy I won't have to see his face ever again," Nina says and Layla chuckles.
"Yeah, me too." Thea's boyfriend, Mark, was hated by their entire family. Even though he was hated by so many people, it seemed like it only attracted Thea more to him.

"Anyway, go freshen up and go to sleep. Tomorrow is the first day of school."

Layla whines, placing her head on her mom's shoulder, "I really don't want to go!"

"Yeah, I know, but you don't have a choice. You'll have to catch up, seeing as it's in the middle of your Sophomore year," Nina tells her daughter as she takes her hand.

Layla sighs, nodding before she falls back on the bed. "Go wash up now."
Nina stands up, and she walks out of the room. Layla looks at the ceiling with droopy eyes. She doesn't even have time to get used to this house or this town before going to school.
