The hottest day of summer so far was drawing to a close and a drowsy silence lay over the large, square houses of Private Drive. Cars that were unusually gleaming stood dusty in their drives and lawns that were once emerald green lay parched and yellowing - for the use of hosepipes had been banned due to drought.

There lay a skinny, black-haired, bespectacled boy who had the pinched, slightly unhealthy look of someone who has grown a lot in a short space of time. His jeans were torn and dirty, his t-shirt baggy and faded, and the soles of his trainers were peeling away from the uppers.

Whilst his uncle Vernon, aunt Petunia and cousin Dudley were out who knows where, Harry stayed put in his bedroom. On a whole, Harry thought he was to be congratulated on his idea of hiding here.

He was not very comfortable, lying on a broken mattress or the splintered floor but, on the other hand none of the neighbours would be glaring at him for looking scruffy (the neighbours believing scruffiness ought to be punishable by law).

Harry occupied himself by going over the events of the previous year. Being in the Department of Mysteries; surrounded by all the prophecies. The Order arriving, the decimation of the prophecies, Bellatrix's incessant cackling circling his ears. It was unescapable.

And then seeing an Auror as he fell through the veil. Knowing he was dead because of him. That his soul left his body lifeless was all because of him believing -stupidly - that Voldemort was in the Ministry. That he had Sirius.

Every few seconds (even though that few seconds felt like hours) he'd check his simple wrist watch waiting for the big and little hand to reach twelve. Excitement bubbled in his chest when he realised it would be in less than five minutes.

Flapping drew Harry's focus from his watch to the window. "Where've you been?" Asked Harry. "Hold on, I've got a treat for you." He rummaged around his bedside draw and managed to gran what he was looking for. Out came a toy mouse, purple in colour. "Hermione sent it me: she thought you would be a bit bored." He received it from Pig yesterday. Hedwig left yesterday morning.

"So, tell me: where did you go?" Harry asked watching as Hedwig played with the toy mouse. "I bet it was fun." He smiled at her. "A lot more fun than I've been having." Most of Harry's days were full of staring out his window. Every day he was greeted with the same sight and every night was the same.

Always staying up until it was too late. So late that there were no drunken songs leaking their way through the windows, no lights from roads or houses or aeroplanes which normally flew overhead. Even fireflies turned in from the still darkening sky and whatever minimal, dimly glowing stars were out trying to shine eventually gave up, giving away to the colossal clouds, giving off their final blink until the night after.

"The Order will be here soon." Harry told Hedwig, be he was more speaking to himself than the owl. He'd be able to see Sirius and Remus again. Be able to hug his Godfather and, hopefully, spend more time with him than before.

Because of the attack on the ministry, Sirius Black is on trial. And a witness they want to call in? Harry Potter. Like Ron said, the case could easily be solved if they use Veritasirum or even a Pensive.

Well, when the letter came from the Ministry, all Hell broke loose in the Dursley Household. Vernon was screaming at him, which was no surprise.

When he said Voldemort was back, and his mother's killer was still alive, Petunia gawped at him. She whispered asking how it was possible. And Harry explained to her and Dudley and Vernon what happened in a short, clipped tone.

Vernon wanted him out the house. Petunia sent him to his room.

"Door locked again." A voice murmured from the other side of it. Smiling, Harry opened his own wardrobe and pulled out his trunk.

"Second time this week, Moody, ey?" Teased Sirius whilst Tonks casted an unlocking charm.

"Cut it out, Siri. He can only take so much teasing before he goes feral." Tonks told Sirius and Moody grunted.

"Heya Harry." Tonks waved at him, walking over to the stash of sweets Harry just pulled from his floorboard and popping a few in her mouth. "Mum and dad don't like sweets in the house: junk food will waste away my body, apparently." She sighed, taking a handful to shove in her pocket.

"Hi" Harry said to her and Moody. Walking up to Sirius, he hugged the man tightly to the point that maybe Sirius was beginning to lose lung capacity.

"Hey pup." Sirius whispered, kissing the top of Harry's hair.

Moody walked to the centre of the room, surveying it. "Reunion over. Grab your trunk and let's get going. Sirius shouldn't be here anyway."

The black-haired man scowled, "Remus doesn't trust me in that house."

Tonks stuck her head in the closet looking for Harry's broom. "Nobody trusts you anyways." She swivelled around looking at Harry, "Where's your broom? Downstairs again?" Harry nodded and she sighed, slumping her shoulders: off she went down the stairs.

"Grab your trunk 'n let's go: I don't want to be here when your relatives get back." Moody scowled. Harry wondered if the man was ever happy.

Two apparitions later, and Harry was at the front door of Grimmauld Place.

Precipitously, the houses shifted. Harry jumped back for at least five feet to see a house replicated in the middle of 11 and 13- Number 12. The door pushed forward and Sirius went first. Happily, Hedwig chirped in her cage.

The oak wood floor was covered by a red carpet with intricate yellow designs laced with the perfect thread for the perfect beauty it was. The walls are a dark, mint green, the pattern of what looks to be curls and swirls to Harry. However, they are captivating none the less.

Where one starts another ends. Where one spiral ends after two, other's stop after three. A chandelier hangs high from the ceiling. It's glistening, star-like frailness as the glass blades hand loosely in their holders and by the strings, Harry still can't help but be hypnotised by the colours from the lighting.

"Moony!" Yelled Sirius, "The pup's here!"

Footsteps pattered down the stairs as Tonks went up to plonk Harry's stuff in his room. "Harry." Remus smiled at him, hugging him tightly. "How are you?" He held the boy at shoulder length. In that moment, Harry forgot all the teasing Dudley did and the chores he was made to do. He had a family; a loving, caring family of his own.

"HEEEELLLPPP!" Made harry jump from his skin. It was louder than a banshee's cry. If Harry was closer to the source, then maybe he would not have eardrums.

Immediately, his saviour-mode kicked in and he barged his way from Remus' arms. Flying up the stairs, Harry bypassed the rooms and quickly drew closer to the distressed voice. With the other person still shouting, Harry frantically located the room pushing open the door like a firefighter kicking it down.

On the other side of the door was a blonde boy with dirty, fair skin and grey eyes. It took a minute for Harry to get over his shock. Maybe he wasn't fully over it when he exclaimed because he didn't see the blonde's shivering or quivering lip or sparkles in his eyes.

"Malfoy!?"
