Heavy eyes fluttered and my vision cleared. We were out of the cave and in the middle of nowhere.
I let out a small cough, and grunts laced with a growl to clear my parched throat before looking around at my friends who were just as confused as I was.
We all struggled to our feet after sharing concerned looks "What happened?" I asked and dusted my black superman and blue denim jeans.
"I-I don't know" Mira replied and reached out to me for help "Last thing I remember is picking up a jar of eye balls"
"Yeah, I remember seeing that" I said and reached out to help pull her up but the moment her fingers touched, a jolt of electricity powerful enough to light up an entire continent ripped through my entire body, referring me blind, deaf and dumb.
Flashes of a gas mask hovering above me, examining my entire body until it made eye contact with me. These were memories. Foreign memories.
I was then thrown a few feet away from Mira. Shivering and twitching. The remnants of the jolts still canvasing my frame.
Until finally took in a deep breath. My paralyzed lungs were open, and instantly filled up with air. I took in a few more deep breaths until I was able to sit up.
It wasn't until I sat up, I saw that Mira also had the same experience. Her neatly comb blonde hair was turned to a smoky mane with tiny jolts dancing around in it.
"Nick, what was that?!" She asked me as she tried to catch her breath.
"I don't know" I replied and once again rose to my feet. This time, not dating to touch her or anyone else.
Ander and Malik, stood afar off, with utter shock on their faces. Their mouth agaped and their shoulders slumped like zombies.
"What?" I asked my other friends. Who pointed back at me. I looked at my chest and saw nothing but a black burn hole but when I looked back at him, I realized that he wasn't pointing at me but behind me.
My mouth fell open, as did Mira's when we saw that every tree behind me had been turned to a stumps "What happened?"
"You... You were struck by lightening... I think" Ander said and turned to Malik for confirmation "Right?"
Malik shook his chubby face "They were the lightening" he then turned to Ander and a menacing smile spread on his face.
When Ander saw it he grimaced "What?" He asked.
"What will happen if we touch?" He asked in an ominous tone before lunging at Ander "Come 'ere"
"No, por favor. No no" He said as he tried to escape Malik's grasp but he was took late. The moment their skins touched... Nothing happened.
"Huh" Malik said and poked Ander again.
When nothing happened he repeated the poking at least a thousand times before Ander finally slapped his hand away "Stop. nothings happening"
"Why did it work for us and not you guys?" Mira— who was the only girl in the group asked and finally got off the floor before dusting her sundress with her skinny arms.
"Maybe because it only works when we touch Mira" Nick said and ran his hands through his afro "Probably"
The two boys then turned to her like predators spotting a prey and began slowly stalking her "Hi Mira" they both said.
She took a few steps away from them while calculating her means of escape "Hey, boys. Let's talk about this, okay? Let's have a normal human conversation. Please"
