"Really?" Billy asked. "Wow, I'm surprised. This place is so welcoming."

The landlady smiled. "Well, I'm glad to hear that, dear." She glanced at her watch. "Oh. I have to run to the grocery store for some eggs and milk. I'll be back in about ten minutes."

"Okay. I'll be in my room for the night. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, my dear," she said. "And, please don't wander to the third floor. That's my floor," she said, walking out the front door.

Billy finished his tea and went upstairs, looking at the pictures on the walls. One was of a young man, wearing a military uniform and hat. He did not look happy.

Maybe that's her son, Billy thought. The other pictures were of a bunch of older people. Relatives, maybe.

As Billy entered his room, he heard a THUMP! on the floor above him.

What was that? Billy wondered. He had to find out what that was. Was the old lady telling the truth? Were Christopher and Gregory still here? He walked up yet another flight of stairs. More pictures. This time of young girls.

Billy wondered who they were. Maybe they were of the landlady when she was a child. Or perhaps a grandchild of hers?

As Billy reached the top of the steps, a chill ran down his spine. Something about this place...it just didn't feel right.

It was dark. The furniture was old and chipped, rusty china sitting on top of old blankets. The place smelled of rubbish.

Billy walked down the hall, the foul smell growing stronger and stronger. Billy pinched his nose, and continued walking.

An empty box was sitting up against the wall. It was covered in dirt and soot. The box was kind of suspicious, just alone in the hallway, as though it were hiding something.

BIlly pushed the box aside. He came across a small door, barely up to his waist.

"Where could this little door lead?" he thought aloud.

He noticed a silver key, smaller than his thumb, under the crack of the door. He realized it fit perfectly in the keyhole.

Billy wondered what would be on the other side of the door that the Landlady might be trying to hide from him. She made it clear to stay off of the third floor.

"Well, I'll only be a little bit." Billy unlocked the door, as its hinges creaked.

He couldn't see a thing in this dark hallway.

The  stench was even worse now. It smelled of human flesh.

Billy crawled through the door, barely fitting through the narrow doorway. It was pitch black. He felt around for a light switch. He turned on the lights and gasped. He couldn't believe his eyes.
