Stepping out of the taxi, you marveled at the huge house looming infront of you. It was a chilly, windy day in the U.K, and you had just arrived at the Heelshire mansion, which looked totally deserted, despite the fact that you had applied for a babysitting job. "Probably just 'cause this place is so big." You thought, lugging your suitcases up the front steps and heading inside.
While almost as cold as the outside, the interior of the home was at least more welcoming. You put down your things by the door and walked over to a small table, where you could see a piece of paper. Across the top was one word.
RULES
1. No guests
2. Never leave Brahms alone
3. Save meals in frezezer
4. Never cover Brahms' face
5. Read a bedtime story
6. Play music loud
7. Clean the traps
8. Only ####### brings deliveries
9. Brahms is never to leave
10. Kiss goodnight
"Huh, wonder why that word is scratched out?" You picked up the list of rules, along with a schedule that was under it, but before you walked away with them, you spotted a small slip of paper that you almost didn't see.
"To who it may concern. Brahms is the doll, and no this job was not a joke. Please PLEASE follow the rules and be good to him. P.S, leave him alone with his food for 30 minutes when you cook. -G and M."
You stared at the note for a few moments, suddenly feeling a bit uneasy about this whole thing. Eventually, you shrugged and went to look for this doll. Stepping into a room with a large piano, you smiled, remembering when you used to take lessons and how much you loved to play. It had been a while, and you quickly moved your fingers over the keys, playing two or three chords before turning and heading for the next room that peaked your interest. A full body mirror was hung on the wall, and it looked like it was once broken, carfully glued cracks just slightly visible. You turned to face the couch, and that's where you saw it.
The doll resembled a little boy, probably 7 or 8, with dark brown hair and a little suit. As you got closer, you could see that again, this was broken once, chips and cracks carefully glued back together. you bent down infront of the doll, admiring how perfect the pieces had been put back toghether. "Hello there! You must be Brahms. I'm (Y/N) your new babysitter." You smiled at the doll as you stood and picked it up, glancing down at your watch, which read 12:36. You figured that you should make some lunch, and walked twords the kitchen, holding the doll as you would any other child. You set Brahms down in one of the chairs at the table and started to look through the cabinets to see if there was any food, and to your delight, there was cans and boxes of non-perishable foods. You smiled, grabbing a box of mac and cheese for two.
As you waited for the water to boil, you remembered the rules said something about playing music, so you tell Brahms that you'd be right back and running to the room with the big record player. You turn it on and it blasts some old clasical song that youv'e never heard before. It was sort of relaxing and you made your way back to the kitchen to find the water boiling, so you put the pasta in and sat down next to Brahms, checking your phone.
---------
After you ate, you looked down at the little note. "...P.S, leave him alone with his food for 30 minutes..." You decided to leave the room, just for the fun of it, and started twords the stairs. As you were ascending the stairs, you thought you heard a noise back in the kitchen, and you stopped. As you stood and listened, more sounds could be heard. It was definetly the clinking of a fork.
You sat down on the stairs and listened as the clinking continued, and after a while, it just stopped. You waited and listened, but it was silent.
Slowly and quietly, you decended the stairs and walked back into the kitchen, to find Brahms' bowl empty. You sucked in a breath, slightly shocked at the sight.
After a minute, you walked over and picked up the bowl and went over to wash it, going over what had just happened in your mind. "What just happened? Could the doll be possesed? That could be it. Maybe..." You snapped out of your thoughts and shut off the sink, walking back to the table and picking up Brahms to bring him into the library.
---------
He watched you through the walls. You seemed a bit younger than Greta was. He liked your name better too. (Y/N). It was pretty, just like you. He admired how kind you were to Little Brahms, how you held him and actually spoke to him. He wanted you. He wanted to hold you and have you as his own.
