Primrose awoke in a normal hospital, in a normal hospital bed, with a normal hospital gown in a different body. Her new body used to belong to Nadia Clark or at least that's what the hospital wristband said, it also said she had died eight hours ago at the ripe age of twenty-four. Primrose climbed out of the hospital bed and stumbled to the nearby mirror on the wall. Her auburn curls were now dark brown in color, shorter in length and her skin was a rich mahogany brown but her eyes looked exactly the same.
The two guys watched her from the two-way mirror, it was not hard to find where her soul had been relocated. The small town only had two medium-sized hospitals and a small clinic. They found Primrose in the body of a Haitian girl, her name had been Nadia, her soul was kicked out of her body on account of liver failure. Her body of course was fine now that Primrose's soul had moved in. Souls were like magical medicine to recently deceased bodies, they sorta kicked out the impurities and restarted the whole system, or at least that is how Liam liked to explain it.¨You wanna take this one?¨ Asked Liam to Ashton with a raised eyebrow. Ashton searched through his brain for an excuse but came up empty-handed and before he knew it Liam had opened the observatory door and pushed Ashton out into the open, right in front of a very emotionally confused and freaked-out Primrose.
¨So hell is real. And this is my punishment?¨ It sounded like a rhetorical question, the question someone asked after they have become completely done with everything. In Primrose's offense, she was certain she was dead and was officially done with everything. She walked over to Ashton and gave him a few firm pokes.
¨Hell has really good effects.¨ Ashton gripped her hand and squeezed it lightly before he let it go and her hand fell back to her side. It didn't stay there for long because before he knew it the hand was waving in front of his face.
¨Prim, I am real please stop that.¨ Prim looked him in the eyes and pinched him.
"Ow, I can feel that.¨ Primrose, still not convinced, attempted a punch to his face, which Ashton caught with his hand about an inch away from its intended target.
"I don't remember you being this abusive.¨ Ashton let out a small chuckle and crossed his arms, watching her try to process what was going on. Primrose pinched herself next... and again and again and again. Soon the skin below her wrist took a reddish undertone, the pinches drawing blood to the surface of her new skin?
"You died." The words came out as nothing but a depressing whisper. Primrose's mind jumped from one crazy thought to another, tears streamed down her dark cheeks, her body trembled and she slowly fell apart. She fell to the floor defeatedly and curled her legs into herself, her head resting on her cotton hospital gown that covered her legs that would soon be covered in tears.
Liam entered the room clumsily, the door handle had slipped through his jean loop and tugged at him, making him even more annoyed, "Get up." Liam's voice showed not an ounce of sympathy, he seemed almost irritatedly bored with the situation. Primrose looked up at him and though she was certain she was crazy, dead, or broken... maybe all three, she lifted the unfamiliar middle finger at him, the hand was pretty and delicate and at the end of her fingers laid seafoam green acrylics.
A chuckle fell out of Liam's thin lips, his once bored expression was replaced by that of one of amusement. Ashton turned to him with a look of warning, he wasn't happy with how he was treating her.
"What happened to keeping her calm?" Ashton questioned, looking from Liam back to her. He bent down and picked her up and placed her on the ruffled up hospital sheets.
"Well if you don't recall, she killed herself which makes her one of us." Liam paced back and forth, stopping right in front of her after his fourth repetition of the pointless side-to-side strides.
