"Now... This book reveals the secret of what happened three centuries ago. The war between Humans and Monsters..."

"Long ago, three hundred years, when Monsters and Humans were at peace, and never had any problems. The king of the monsters, Asgore, made a promise to his people, that if anything were ever to go wrong with the peace- he would make sure that they all would survive."

"Humans lived and monsters roamed, both shared Earth and Sky as home. The love and care for each other never faltered."

"But, the king of humans, King Edward, sometimes enjoys his time with the monsters, but at times not so much . He never really liked the idea of sharing the same land with those 'dreadful creatures' he called monsters."

"The string of peace that held everyone together, had broken one day, causing both races to go into a dreadful war..."

Charlie looked confused and asked, "Why did they go to war? What happened between them that caused them to break the peace between them?" The monster laughed sadly. "Even to this day, not even we know why the humans attacked us monsters. It was always left a mystery. But, that is in the past." Toriel explained and looked back down towards the book in her furry hands.

"Years passed by, and the war raged on and on... bloodshed and tears stained the battlefield... Broken bodies of what were once humans flooded the floor, filling every crack and crevice with crimson blood and pale dust."

"When humans die, we all know that they lay cold and still, but when a monster dies, they turn to dust. Nothing remains, but dust."

"After a gruelling 3 years of war, the humans ended up victorious. Despite how many soldiers they had lost."

"Using the magic from mages and wizards, they forced us monsters into this small, cramped space and sealed us under here for centuries, never to see the light of day again."

"During the first decade, the king and queen of monsters, had a child. They took great care of the child, showering him in love and affection."

"When the child was 9, a human fell into the underground, remaining unconscious for a while before the prince found them lying in a small patch of blooming, golden buttercups."

"He managed to wake them up and bring them to the royals; The family took human under their wing and raised them as if they were their own."

"What was their name?" Charlie blurted out.
Toriel's head shot up, as she stared at the small child sitting on the floor in front of her with a look of curiosity plastered on it's face.
"Their name was..um...I...I-I" The goat muttered.
Feeling defeated she looked back down at the book and continued on reading, trying her hardest to push the question aside. The action alone confused the child but continued listening despite it.

"The human and the prince became best friends, inseparable almost! They spent every hour of every day together as if they would never be whole without the other."

"Suddenly, the human became very sick one day, and had to spend all their time in bed, resting."

"The small prince never left their side, crying and praying they would wake up perfectly fine. He kept whispering small things by their bed and rarely came out to eat."

"Sadly, the human died one day.. leaving the entire underground devoid of hope; Once hearing the human child had died."

"The king and queen tried to comfort the sad prince, but he never seemed to cheer up whatsoever."

"One day, the small prince took the human child to the field of flowers where they first met and said that he wanted to bury them. Or so they thought."

"The prince and the human disappeared for a long period of time. Until they came back through the same hole that the human fell from. He looked like he was in so much pain, barely gripping onto life."

"Once the king and queen had reached the buttercup field to see how their child was doing, their whole world came crashing down on them like an avalanche."

"What they saw was indescribable... their son and adopted child, both lay there. The human, pale and lay there limp. But the son... was not there. Only a pile of dust lay there, shifting slowly from the small breeze that brushed past the heart-broken parents."

Toriel began to tear up, but held her ground.

"After the awful sight both parents had endured, the king mad a rule that any humans that fall down, would suffer the consequence of death."

"The queen did not abide by the rule well, and left her duty as queen. Not caring if her husband pleaded and cried for her to stay and rule by his side."

"Ever since the queen had left the throne, the monster race had started to lose all sense of hope."

"That was until the king found out that the power of seven human souls could break the barrier and set monster kind free from there tainted prison."

"So far, the monsters have collected six human souls in the past three-hundred years. Legend has it that soon, a human child would fall down into this prison and free all monster kind."

"One day, we all are hoping that one human child could free all of us, and allow both races to live in peace once again."

Toriel closed the book and placed a small smile on her face. "It's time for bed dearie." She mumbled something under her breath, the only works Charlie could make out were: 'Why did they kill you...'

Charlie was confused at these words but went off to her room to get some rest. "Goodnight mother!" "Goodnight my child."

'I'm sorry Toriel, but tomorrow I have to help the monsters and break the barrier.' Charlie thought as she entered her crimson-red room, beginning to pack ready for the biggest journey she will ever face.
