New Beginning

It has been three years since the siblings first united. They have spent a lot of time together after the twins have graduated from High School and got accepted into their programs. Polo got accepted into Dartmouth University with an athletic scholarship while Marian received a two year internship becoming a therapist. The twins decided to live together for the sake of Mari and their parents. Their mother feared this moment but she knew it was best for them. Dearly missed them to where she calls them everyday. Their father would check in but there has not been a moment where refuse to give up on Jessie.

In a week, Polo will have his first basketball game in Dartmouth and he refuse to miss a day of practice. A day after, he receives a text from Mari. "Jessie called and said Dad tried to reach out but he was stubborn and decline his call. Maybe you can talk to him out." Polo, the mediator in the family is tired but he knows that no one else can't manage but him. He calls Jessie and leaves a voicemail to his phone saying, "Let's have a brother's night at Hard Rock at 6. Don't be late." An hour later, Polo receives a text from Jessie confirming the meet-up.

Hard Rock Café

They arrived to the Café and played arcade games with one another. Afterwards, they sat down and ordered their food. Jessie begins, "How is basketball coming along?" Polo, eager, "It's great. My coach promoted me as one of his top players because of my performance in High School but it's a lot of pressure." Jessie complements, "That's good. Just keep your eyes on the ball. I told my partner at the recruitment agency about you." Polo lights up. "He is willing to see you at the game. If everything goes well, he will put you on camp as soon as you graduate." Words could not describe how Polo but that didn't stop him from what he really said. He took deep breaths and says, "Jess, I have to say this before I forget. What happened to allowing yourself to forgive? Dad is trying to do right but you are pushing him away and acting like her." Jessie argues, " Don't compare me to that woman. She is not my mother and Brian, what did he do?" Polo argues:
"That woman is your mother too. Believe it or not, you are stubborn just like her. Both of you show no mercy. Did you know that you were the last person he thought that will ever disrespect him? Dad is not the enemy. He has done a lot for you than you think but you wouldn't understand because you was just a baby."

Jessie stopped him, "When I was a baby? Polo, what did he tell you ? The only person that took care of me was my Grandmother." Polo yells, "OUR grandmother. Don't forget, we are in the same family.  I don't know if you notice but you are going against your own word." Jessie thought back and noticed how blind of a hypocrite but with his pride their, he was careless, " "Fine, if this will make him feel better, I'll talk to him." Polo shook his head, "Jess, you don't get it. He is doing this because you need closure and he is willing to provide that but you have trust yourself enough for it to happen." Polo receives a headache and leaves.

The game

Game day has arrived and starts at 5:30pm. Family and friends are excited for the big game. Some relatives volunteered to help set up this event. Since the argument, the brothers rarely interacted with each other. Jessie enters the gym and saw Polo practicing by himself. He yells his name and direct him to the bleachers:

"I know we haven't spoke since Hard Rock and once again, you were right. I guess I'm still hurt by the fact how your parents abandon me and did not bother to lend a hand, even the one that I was suppose to call "mom".  Talk to my girlfriend about this and said the same thing, 'Let it go'. I longed for this moment but I didn't know how I was going to react."

Polo stands Jessie up:

"That is why you have to allow yourself to heal and we are here to help. To this day, it's amazing how mom treated you, her firstborn. You are my brother, I can care less of what she says because eventually, she will need you. It might not be now or tomorrow but she'll come around. At least that's what Brian said." The brothers laughed and hugged each other.  The bell  rung for Polo to be ready. As he leaves, Jessie yells to him, " GIVE IT ALL YOU GOT." In his mind, that is all he wanted to do .
