I waited until dark before getting up and leaving the cave. The sky was a greyish color with the moon lurking around the water line of the ocean. The waves crashed against the rocks, spraying me with mist. The scent of salt roamed the air as I walked down the beach that was now empty. The road ahead was clear but I could faintly hear the sound of a motorcycle getting louder. Barely through the fog, could I see a whitish yellow light get bigger and bigger.

Few seconds pass and I could make out the faint outline of a motorcycle pushing through the fog. Immediately, I recognized the rider. Just as I had seen before, her blonde hair was tucked up into a bun and her helmet covered her face. She was focused on looking ahead at the road, not allowing me to get much of a view of her face but I still knew that it was the same woman whose past and future I had seen.

“Wait!” I yelled as she zoomed by me with no notice. I started to run after her yelling, “Stop!” My feet hit the concrete, pounding against the cold. The wind wiped past me, blowing my hair behind me while I pushed myself faster. I have to stop her future from happening.

I rounded the corner into the town just as loud screeching sounded through the air. The screeching sounded like nails on a chalkboard mixed with the crashing sound of a thousand pots clanking against each other. I hurriedly ran down the side walk past stores towards the toppled motor cycle. The black was stopped crookedly towards the motorcycle with one light blacked out just as I had seen before.

As soon as I came into view, the car wheels skidded and the driver quickly drove away from the incident with its broken light, speeding down the road and into the fog. I bent down fast and picked up the fist sized rock down at my feet and threw it at the retreating car, hitting the back corner. I yelled at the car, my voice blending in with all of the sounds that filled the air as it faded into the fog, no longer to be seen.

My breathing was heavy, my anger taking over but I pushed it down and turned around. I faced the motorcycle that lay on its side on the pavement. From behind it I could see the limp arm of the woman. Cautiously, I walked towards the motorcycle and stopped in front of the lifeless body. Blood caked the top of her head and her body laid at an unnatural angle.

All of the sorrow that filled me suddenly went over me and I couldn’t stop. I dropped down onto my knees beside her. Tears were already rolling down my face, drenching my cheeks and falling down onto the pavement. I gently reached out and touched her cheek lightly as if she were a porcelain doll and would break at any moment. Her green eyes were still open, staring at the laundromat that I had gone in before.

They no longer shown with happiness and life and laughter and love. Now they only reeked of coldness and death. I reached forward and delicately shut them closed. Her head was heavy when I slipped my hand beneath it and place it gently down onto my knee. The pink from her cheeks before was slowly fading away along with the warmth of life.
